Just mentioned Reservation Dogs on the SW thread so thought I’d check in here. Anyone else watching S2?
I really like this show. Strikes a perfect balance IMO and the characters are brilliant. I doubt Taika has much to do with it past setting it up but I love how the Native American humour is so in tune with our own. You could see this same show being set somewhere like the Far North wit hardly any changes.Yep
Season 2 is better

Dahmer
Pretty well done and a fascinating insight into a really fucked up fluffybunny.
The lead guy plays the role brilliantly, just goes to show if you want to get away with killing loads of people in the US make sure they’re gay, between him and John Wayne Gacy they got away with it for years.
Loses a few points for having the guy who played the Dad in Step Brothers playing exactly the same part ( exasperated father to a loser son ). Hard to take him seriously !

@MN5 its pretty bleak, and then seeing he was basically up against it from before he was born too...
The world has some pretty messed up people in it!
Well yeah but a lot of people have parents that fight and get divorced and turn out just fine. From what I’ve seen so far his Dad gave him loads of ( tough ) love and support ( less said about the screw job Mum the better )
Some people like Dahrmer, Gacy, Bundy etc are just wired to turn into total psychos unfortunately.

@taniwharugby said in TV Serieseseses:
@MN5 oh not making excuses, and am talking about the medications, not up bringing, which is probably more of an issue in the US, especially given it was in the 70s.
Ah yeah good point, his Mum was on all sorts of weird shit.
Interesting reading this, so far ( four episodes in ) they seem to have got everything pretty much spot on as to what happened.
I wonder what sort of life his old man and stepmum lead these days, it says they still loved him and supported him, it CANNOT have been easy when all the shit he’d done came to light.
-
@MN5 I can only imagine
##spoiler
What the drugs she was on back then, with a probably less regulated market with plenty of experimental stuff for depression/anti-psychotics etc, and thats without the fact she was pregnant! We know alcohol foetal syndrome aint great, makes you wonder how much was genetic from his unstable mother and then add in the foetal cocktail!
IN the first ep the dad didnt seem hugely surprised, and given I think they have actual recordings of the interviews, that is possibly an accurate portrayal? Still cnt have been easy for them, or his younger brother.

Bear - just have the last ep to go.
Fantastic scripting, acting, direction, filming etc. Interesting characters. I am enjoying it but in all of its search for authenticity every now and then it does something really jarring on the food front.
##spoiler
an example would be the pastry chef dude, after all of his dedication and study toward making a perfect donut gets a 'revelation' to use a yeasted dough rather than a cake one. WTF? Donuts are a yeasted dough. That's your start point.
##endspoilerI've never worked in a US kitchen or for a US chef but I think the obsession levels and toxic environments are actually realistic over there. The kitchen talk and constant 'yes chef' stuff is well overdone from my experience but I do understand that's how they have taken something and become over-serious with it.
I will disagree with the notion the he worked like that at Noma though. Noma is well known as a very quiet zen like kitchen and not a place of high stressCracks me up that you considered that worthy of a spoiler hidey-thingee 😁. Kudos for your concern for us!
Great fucking series, huge Shameless fan of Lip, but reallt loved the girl in this.

Me too, thought they should have set it in a different city than Chicago to help remove some of that similarity.

City On A Hill finished for another season. Kevin Bacon is great in this series.
Wait, was last weeks episode the final? Crap.
Yes, only 8 episodes. I assume there will be a season 4.

Bad Sisters is still a good watch but probably stretched by a couple of eps too many as it is becoming fairly obvious by now where it is going.
##spoiler
My guess is that the wife finally cracks and kills him. The story has been going through each sister's personal reasons to want the prick dead but having vengeance backfire (pretty obvious that the old girl just got frozen). Not sure how the insurance thing pans out but I'm guessing that they stop the claim by mutual agreement as both parties are in the shit.

Dahmer
Certainly not something you say you enjoyed, but was an intriguing watch.
Thought Evan Peters was excellent as Dahmer too.
##spoiler
I could not remember if he was still in prison, and didnt google to find out, but how he met his death was entirely predictable, and somewhat poetic given how he killed his first victim.

##endspoilerGood riddance.
I guess in the days before internet a lot of his fellow prisoners wouldn’t have known straight away what he was actually in for.
I felt for his Dad and stepmum, as parents we all have trying moments with our kids but fucken hell, that was as bad as it could possibly get.
You’re right, amazing performances from all involved. Evan Peters was always a great watch in American Horror Story. He has decent range and then some !

Crossfire
Accidentally skipped episode 2, due to a sky fuck up and didn't realise until the end of episode 3 (of 3). In the end, really fucking glad we didn't sit through another hour, as episode 3 almost seemed to start where episode 1 finished.Tldr: Don't bother.
Unless, like me, you have a soft spot for Anneika Rose

Fucking hell
Did exactly the same thing, eps 1 & 3
Except I really enjoyed it

@MiketheSnow shows how episode 2 must have been an absolute pile of wank.
Might have to watch it just to see more of Anneika in that dress though.
