Finished the second series of Making a Murderer lastnight
I was convinced after the first series that Steven Avery and his dimwited nephew were set up. After this latest instalments im even more convinced.
No doubt the Avery’s and Dasseys are feral ( the mom dassey is completely feral) but based on the details showing in the final few episodes it’s looking like other family members are responsible
They were stitched up by the cops and prosecutors not too mention his own defence team clearly could have done moreJust highlights how fucked you would be if your ever tied up in the US legal system
I enjoyed it more than the first season. The new lawyer is a frightening woman
Unbelievable that the Brendan Dassey confession still stands. The US court system is fucked.

Yup it appears they don’t want to let them out, despite a handful of judges stating the confession was involuntary.
Enjoyed when mom dassey and the stepdad showed their true colours and ranted at Avery on the phone.
That bobby dassey has some fucked up tastes in porn too.. -
Watched a couple of episodes of The Romanoffs, is pretty decent.
Basically different story each ep following different people who are apparently descendants of the Romanoffs.
couple females in ep 2 were very tidy, particularly
edit: not sold on the episodes after ep 2...

Just finished it too. Really enjoyed it..now I need to do some research on the other side of the story as the first season left out a lot of stuff that put Steven in a bad light.
Funnily enough I've walked away with a greater respect for the US court system. The amount of options for appeal are quite vast and it's set up to be as fair as possible, it doesn't mean every decision is going to be 100% correct but it does give some protections against a public storm created by a potentially slanted doco. What I do think is messed up however is the poor process by investigators especially considering the conflict of interest of Avery's civil claim.

Personally I gave up watching as it was demoralizing to go so deeply into the sheer dumbness of some people
Despite my apparent ‘leftyness” where I should be standing up for the ‘disadvantaged’ I found myself despairing for humanity that as a species we haven’t managed to evolve such feralness out of society -

Though ironically it appears through his time in jail Avery has improved. He seemed capable of understanding the lawyer talk and generally came across as educated.
The rest of the extended family however.. -

Despite my apparent ‘leftyness” where I should be standing up for the ‘disadvantaged’ I found myself despairing for humanity that as a species we haven’t managed to evolve such feralness out of societyActually I'd say that attitude perfectly sums up modern leftyism, a patronising disdain for the white working class.
The doco is certainly slanted in favour of the Averys but of the footage what makes you see these people as ferals? I see a working class family who have had it pretty tough for a long time and remain close as a loving family. Rough around the edges sure, but I don't see the alcohol, drug abuse, unemployment, family violence and refusal to take responsibility that I'd associate with folk I'd actually call feral.
It's a bit of a bug bear of mine having come from very humble beginnings myself.

Fair call, my post probably didn’t reflect the manner of my thought.
It wasn’t meant as a criticism of the people but of a society that hasn’t managed to ‘lift’ them out of a fairly basic existence and how I found that demoralising. -
Start-Up Season 3 is up.
Four episodes in. Great.

@mikethesnow huh, go figure - I thought that was an Amazon original, but seems not. I assume that means I should source it by alternative means?

Finished Norsemen & The Purge
Norsemen had some funny shit in it, also some silly stuff, but overall good series, initially thought it was going to be a parody of Vikings but I think they kinda veered away from that a little. I liked Freya, and Orm is a crack up, such a loser!
The Purge, expected this to be crap going in, but I enjoyed it, wasnt enough of everyones favorite Amish skank in it though.

Better or worse than Vikings? I haven't decided if it is worth starting. Vikings has Katheryn Winnick.
I've started watching S4 of Blindspot. Neuw Zeeland gets a mention in Ep2.

@bovidae it's different...is not serious, as I said, initially I thought it was going to be a parody, but ended up being different.
Sure there are similarities in that there are Vikings, but isnt really comparable, Six 30 min eps in each of the 2 series.
The Last Kingdom is due to start again in a couple of weeks.
