Truly? Really?
Rapper Tinie Tempah presented the award to Darling, who was commended by the jury for his āuse of materials and commonplace objects like concrete, welded barriers, hazard tape, office files and net curtains, to convey a familiar yet delirious world invoking societal breakdown, his presentation unsettles perceived notions of labour, class, Britishness and power.ā
Afterwards, Darling pulled a Palestinian flag out of his pocket. When asked later why, the artist said: āBecause thereās a genocide going on and I wanted to say something about it on the BBC.ā
The Turner prize, regarded as one of the art worldās most prestigious awards, is presented to an artist born or working in Britain for an outstanding exhibition or presentation of their work over the previous year.
The work of Darling, who currently resides in Berlin, impressed the jury most of all. They praised the artistās ability to manipulate materials āin ways that skilfully express the messy reality of lifeā and expose āthe worldās underlying fragilityā.Tate Britain director Alex Farquharson, chair of the jury, said that Darlingās work was a āstate of a nationā address that had a ātimeliness, dynamism and a boldness that was really grappling with the world ⦠and thereās a lot of humour in the work and you feel immersed in its world.ā
Farquharson added that the work was juggling with themes of Brexit, nationality, identity, bureaucracy, immigration and austerity. āThereās a sense of timeliness with all the work, and in that sense I think itās a really good year. Everyone in their separate ways, feels of the moment.ā
It's certainly not the Fighting Temeraire

This is award winning art, must've taken at least an hour
One could argue that celebrating repurposed pompous posturing is doing more to alienate āthe person in the streetā from art & culture than Thatcher could have ever hoped to achieve.

This was also on telly this morning, I was having a giggle at how all the cows were white, then they said the lady is charging £125 for it! I'm buying a cow.
Seems her price has raised since this article.
I'm already talking to Mrs Meldrew about renting out our fence by the hour so people can pat our neighbours Limousins

It's utter wank, to put it succinctly
Classic case a few years back when a builder left a bag of plaster or cement in the Tata Modern and it was mistaken for a piece of high art.
-
And a similar case where some abstract painting was being wanked over for months by all the critics and the gallery discovered it had been hung upside down for the whole time.

Really disappointed to discover that's a breed of cattle.
