@kiwimurph NZ Maori games showed that Franklin and the Dixons are very average. Hunt and Whitelock are very good defensively, but offer little with ball in hand.

@bones Hurricanes haven't made the mistakes that the Highlanders depend on. Without that you need ball carriers.

Nah don't reckon that so much, just had shit ball as really inaccurate at the breakdown on attack, on defence too many penalties and then poor decision making with the shit ball we got...

Really nice to see Lam fulfill his potential. Wish it was with the Blues.

    Yup. even West looks better

Damn, that was a great break from West. Butchered by Judd.

@bones Haven't the Hurricanes had 65% possession? Going to have to hit a lot of defensive rucks to make up for that, if you can't control your own possession.

Yeah, think that about sums up the Landers attack tonight

West looked good off the bench for the Blues last year too. Its where he is best suited. The issue is when he has to start. See v Bulls round 1 as an example.

Canes just didn’t let the Higlanders into the game in the 2nd 40. Impressive stuff.

Landers didn’t play poorly, one of those days where the bounce doesn’t go your way.

Could easily see these two teams in the final.

How good was that haka from TJP’s mates (I presume) in the crowd for him? Even better when TJ himself joined in.

Strangely impotent performance from the Highlanders there. Canes not perfect but never really threatened. Impressive stuff by Aso but Savea has been much improved recently and IMHO deserves his spot. He's been safe under the high ball and strong on attack. Much better than the sluggish carthorse we've become used to.

Clearly we are rugby experts, bravely picking the 2016 and 2017 champions respectively to possibly make the final again this year.

    *2015 and 2016

Late to the thread but what a try saver by Ben May. No idea why he was so far back in play but great to see a Fatty put in the big ones.

Well spotted from the TMO. Lam wearing red boots. Orange boot in touch.

That was so weird. Looked for all money to be Lam on that end on. Great TMO work. (Admittedly it looked fine in real time side on.)

What a fucken shamozzle by Li though. No brains to toe it ahead and no courage to make a play at it. It was moments like this that fucked it for the landers.

Im not sure they deserve praise for that. It was perfectly clear if you watch the few frames before the part they kept freezing it that it was Naholos leg.
I would be interested in finding out if there was someone else in his ear telling him to check again as he told the ref it was no try. Pretty bizare really.

@pukunui yeah I was really struggling to comprehend how they figured it was Lam's leg. It was like the commentators had decided before they watched and then just talked over the video... But they wouldn't do that.

If it was Lam's leg I would be surprised he was walking afterwards.. some awesome splits.
