What are you listening to, right now................

Had downloaded Muse's "Drones" album a while back, and finally got around to listening to it.
Preferred method is to have it on in the car on loop so I can assimilate the core of the album through repetition. So far, so good. Liking "Revolt" and the track "Aftermath" starts out like U2's "One" before pivoting into another style I can't quite put my finger on.
Will report back after the next five or six full listening sessions.

MN5 may be a piston wristed gibbon who massively over rates the Chilli Peppers but really BSSM is a fucking brilliant 90s alt rock album.
Na I give them their fair dues. Some absolutely outstanding albums prior to 1999 and, the odd great song aside, absolute shit since. Saw em in 92 and 96 but having seen their recent setlists wouldn't bother now.
BSSM is one of those albums where you never skip a song though. It really is superb.

`@Tim killer chorus is right
cheesy as hell but played LOUD on the stereo, once the guy starts singing you tend to stop whatever it is you're doing...
Probably the best description of Perry I've ever read.
Incredible vocalist.

@jegga This version is different to the song that appeared on the album "Hot Space" but that album was heavily influenced by disco and pop. Not a fan favourite.
Yeah there's another version on youtube thats very disco, I thought this one was better.

If you really want to know the history of smooth music, and the true story behind Kenny Loggins' transition to rockin' soundtrack ace, then you've got to watch the Yacht Rock comedy series.
1st episode is a little rough, the rest are excellent (except the Jethro Tull one - you can skip that).

While the movie thread is a circle jerk about a cartoon character, thought I'd mention this one one here instead.
Supersonic - doco/story about Oasis
Never been a big fan but recognise that when they get everything right they do create some bloody good songs. Have never had time for the Liam hates Noel hates Liam sideshow but this movie kind of puts it into some kind of perspective and paints a picture of that clash being the odd element that somehow occasionally turns special.
There's no doubt that Noel is the more talented with regard to songwriting and such but Liam is a bit of a creative freak himself. They would never work for hours over their hits, somehow Noel would play the song once give the lyrics to Liam who would do one vocals take with amazing phrasing and nuance and that was it.
Well worth a watch.
