I'm guessing the fact that the interest payments let alone capital repayments on the loans for the new stadium must be taking a huge amount of the cashflow hence not all that much being made available for the transfer market.

Will be interesting to see if Spurs cash in on any of their big name players to fund strengthening the squad. They fell away badly in the title race in the final 10 games - their 27th game was against Burnley and a win would have had them 2 points behind City with 11 games to go. They finished 27 points behind City. Possibly an earlier exit in the Champions League would have helped them maintain a title challenge - actually not getting out of the group would have been best!

City won the same number of games as last season (32 of 38) and right now you can't see any team other than Liverpool being able to win 30 games in a season.

Aldewiereld was linked with a move to old Trafford a year ago (🀣) and Christian Eriksen has not signed a new contract. They are two players that I suspect Pochettino would like to keep but may be forced to part with. Our defence was not as good as precious seasons, we lack speed on the flanks and I would be happy to upgrade Trippier and Davies. The number of our players involved in the world cup and the subsequent run of injuries exposed our thin squad, which has not been added to for a few windows. If he stays consistent, the manager will want high work rate players, not necessarily big names. I reckon we need at least 3 or 4 new bodies, one or two more if those two aforementioned players are allowed to leave

@Hooroo Terry v Lampard will be the theme I reckon.

Not sure if Derby get to keep Mason Mount and Harry Wilson if they get to the EPL (Mount is at Chelsea and Wilson at Liverpool). 25 goals between them and one is a midfielder and the other a winger .....

Not sure if Villa get to keep Tammy Abraham if they get to the EPL (he's at Chelsea as well) - 26 goals this season. Or if someone bigger will come in for Grealish.

    @KiwiPie

Happy for Fat Frank! Agonising for Leeds as the first team to lose the tie after winning the away leg first!

My mate is an avid Leeds fan and he will be gutted. He would probably attend 20-30 games a season. He's probably still on it to drown his sorrows.

I'm being lazy but what is Derby's biggest Derby in PL if they make it?

Leeds appear magnetically opposed to the Premier League. They just can't get back no matter how they look at times during the season

@Hooroo Leicester is their closest rival - always rivalry between Leicester, Derby and the Nottingham clubs (well one of the Nottingham clubs anyway!).

Closing moments of the most one-sided FA Cup final in 115 years...

And Aston Villa are back in the top flight - they should always be there with their size and history. Great job by Dean Smith but with their top scorer belonging to Chelsea, it could be a tricky time for them.

@KiwiPie Hopefully we can do a deal to get him back. I feel we probably need reinforcements in our backline if we're gonna look at survival. Midfield options are decent but if we can't get Abraham to stay then we definitely need more options up front as we'll only have Kodjia as our main striker and he hasn't really recaptured his form of 16/17 mainly due to injury.

@African-Monkey Exactly! Can you succeed in the EPL with just some old Kodjia up front ....

    Thumping win for the Blues!

Hazard all but admits he’s off. Bitter sweet night.

Arsenal are no further forward than a year ago.

Liverpool awarded a penalty after 23 seconds. Salah with a second minute penalty. 1-0.

After the fireworks in the semis, a really dull final so far. 60 minutes gone. Liverpool lead with a soft penalty.

Over an hour gone and Spurs haven't had a shot on target yet. All too easy for the Liverpool defence. Mind you, Liverpool have only has two shots on target and one of those was the penalty. This is like watching paint dry.

Worst Liverpool performance of the season. They still lead 1-0. 70 gone. Liverpool are winning this in first gear.

Origi scores a screamer. 2-0. No way back for Spurs.
