Can't keep using the Parker thread when it does not really concern him.
Biggest fight in recent memory is about to go down.....
The hardest punching heavyweight since Iron Mike - and the sloppiest - Deontay Wilder
vs
The best boxing heavyweight in recent memory - Tyson Fury
I think Wilder gets an early KO if Tyson is under done. If he's not, and comesto the fight fully prepared I think WIlder gets the KO in the late rounds. Either way its a KO from Wilder for me.

@hooroo It is PPV. I saw the promo over the weekend.
I'm vaguely interested in this, so may watch.
Ball Park, what time will the fight be? Sunday I assume?

I've only ever bought a PPV fight once - Tua vs Cameron. As you say a big gamble.
When I lived in the USA a group of us KIwis went to a local sportsbar to watch the Lewis-Tua fight. IIRC we paid a $10 entry fee.
I watched that in Paris after the AB's v France test. I think that was my last all-nighter.

ive got wilder , but we dont know what sort of nick Tyson Fury will be in ,
The fury that outboxed Klitschko , could well take the points IMO, so if he is in that sort of condition, that result would not surprise me ,
But with that unknown , Ive got Wilder in a KO
-
@kiwiinmelb the thing with Tyson is that he fought a Klitschko in early decline. He was already fairly robotic and not really being challenged to that point add in the age factor and Fury's accomplishment wasn't that awe inspiring, an upset none the less. We will see how good Fury really is with someone trying to take his head off his shoulders rather than sit behind a jab.

Yeah true but he was more convincing in beating him than joshua was ,and Joshua fought Klitschko further in decline , that fight couldve gone either way
-
I've bought it. Can't wait for it, haven't been this excited for a fight in ages. Fury by UD I feel. He's been targetting Wilder since beating Klitschko even when he was going through his struggles and I feel he'll be too smart for Wilder. Wilder's been outboxed by far worse fighters before finding the KO punch (Szpilka, Wachington come to mind) and I see no reason why Fury can't do the same and he's a few leagues above those two mentioned.
-
Yeah I'd agree with that. For all of wilder's power he hasn't fought anyone near the level of an aged klitschko. I'm just assuming Tyson has a mean chin as he's a mad fucking gypsy.
-
Would love to see Fury win.
Everything is pointing to a DW knock-out, but if Fury can box from distance he can bamboozle DW.
-
@tewaio see I thought that about a year ago and then I saw him ko Ortiz after being basically out on his feet. Ortiz was legit competiton for anyone, yes maybe a year past his best but he was dangerous. Wilder saw him off.
Wilder is not a boxers arsehole but he hits like a mule kicks and hes got heart. Thats a dangerous combo. Id much prefer Fury box his way to the title but I do not think he hits as hard as Ortiz and Wilder is very fit. Just cant see Fury winning.
-
Dont underestimate power , the other thing that makes him dangerous , those weird looking punches are coming in from weird angles that fighters arent used to , its the unorthodox that makes him hard to plan for
And that big right hand , he can throw from a long way back , closes the gap with lightning speed , you think he is on the outside and cant get you , then bang .
Despite his very unusual non copybook style , he is very fit and athletic
-
For me Wilder wins this in the first 3 rounds. Sure hes not the better boxer but hes an unpredictable animal and his style will make this more of a fight than a boxing match. As mentioned earlier in this thread, his angles are weird.
This fight is just so intriuging in that we have Wilder with his power and pretty average technical boxing ability vs a much more skilled but perculiar styled boxer in Fury. Its gonna be interesting that is for sure!
If it doesnt pan out like above then Fury is gonna have to keep Wilder at a distance and fustrate the hell out of him. But I'm really not sure if Fury will have the fitness though to take the fight deep enough to win.
-
@jk that’s what makes it interesting for me ,
2 weird cats that are not your average run of the mill fighters ,
Fury with his peek a boo style , an English heavyweight boxing like an American black welterweight .......... where the hell did that come from
And wilder is wilder , probably seen nothing like him before , he is so different
-
I kind of like Wilder. I hope he knocks fury out of the ring!
-
Harder puncher than Tua @raznomore ? For all Tuas faults hitting like a sledgehammer wasn't one of them

@mn5 I think yeah, he might actually hit harder. It's a close call.
Yeah hard to measure that sort of stuff , they hit differently , Tua had very heavy hands ,
Like getting hit with a Besser block from closer range ,
Wilder is like hitting you with a house brick from further back at higher speed .

both of those sound awful to be honest.

sickening disrespect that this thread completely ignores the fight in Brisbane tonight...

You got to wonder how much longer Mundine can milk that villan role and keep getting paydays out of it , at 44 I can’t believe it’s happening again .

and yet, i bet there are a few turning in tonight simply to watch Horn punch him in the head. Plays it to perfection, master promoter.

@mariner4life made more money out of boxing than any Australian boxer in history,
Yet nowhere near the best , says it all.
Everybody lines up to see the villain bashed .

I remember when he fought Green and won. About the entire pub minus two blokes were hoping Mundine would lose. He knows how to get people to watch.

If he's fighting a white dude the script writes itself.

Yeah guess it is. Similar to George Foremans punches which looked pretty slow and ponderous but fuck getting hit by him !

My respect for SBW has gone through the floor. We should always, always be encouraging scantily clad models at as many events as possible.
Honestly, some men just want to watch the world burn.

I remember it well , the average man on the street who doesnt follow it that closely thought it was a forgone conclusion , green who was being promoted as the average aussie bloke next door. was going to shut Chocs mouth for good apparently .
I tried warning people , Mundine actually had a fair bit of skill about him then , probably 3rd or 4th best super middleweight in the world at that time , I knew he would be too sharp for green who was tough but a bit one dimensional .

Getting hit by George was like being hit by a swinging sledgehammer , he was a hardman
-
@mariner4life 96 seconds and what appeared to be a glancing blow ended Mundine patchy but chased up career.
-
if you watch the slow motion footage , wasnt hit by much at all ,
I heard rumors some time ago , he was being touched up in sparring by young amateurs ,being embarrassingly dropped by nobodies ,
I wouldnt get too carried away with Horn getting to the top at middleweight going off that .
-
@kiwiinmelb He'll be going to Light Middleweight after this and yeah, he'll do well to make progress there in a pretty strong division these days with guys like Munguia, Hurd, Lara etc. running around there and possibly Errol Spence going there in the near future.
