TBF it isn't AJs camp that are claiming the 'excuse', they have gone out of their way to deny it.

If true however, all other fighters will now be hoping to get a (cheap) shot in behind the ear and see if AJ has recurring issues.

rumors have circulated for a while that AJ gets the wobbles up a bit too easily when getting hit in sparring , that has been going around for some time

rumors are rumors , but where there is smoke there is sometimes fire, would not be that surprising if it was true

There was also a story doing the rounds that JP had an anxiety attack in the dressing room ahead of the fight. Apparently connected to JP's dad blowing up at Hearn after the fight. They also mentioned the knock out in training as part of that... who knows what is legit and what is bullshit - we are talking boxing after all!

I’m not his fan so I don’t want to be seen as making excuses for him but

The way he looked when he came out would would support that , and then there was the relaxing neck massage when he got into the ring , which looked odd .

Who the fuck wants a relaxing neck massage just before you are about to fight ? 🙂

Notice also AJs eyes during the fighter intros....all over the show...whereas normally hes supremely confident.

@kiwiinmelb and @Nogusta it would be really, really shit if that rumour were true. These guys do legit damage to each other and if your mindset ain't right that's bloody dangerous.

I haven't heard of a big fight being canned on the night for anything like that? I guess they felt it had to go ahead no matter what? At least Hearn did according to the gossip. Surely this is too big to not come out if there is any element of truth to it.

Been many fights where the preparation hasn’t been spot on ,
Another major upset , when Tyson got beat by buster douglas , footage later emerged of him being dropped in sparring .
When Floyd had his comeback circus fight against Conner ,
There was talk he was getting touched up by Errol Spence,
Hard to keep secrets in boxing , always people there witnessing things who have mouths .
I don’t see it as an excuse, sport is cruel , you have to get things right or it’s bad luck unfortunately

@kiwiinmelb Okolie, Dubois now Kabayel has hurt him in sparring. It's a bit concerning if Agit Kabayel is hurting you in sparring. He's a good fighter with good movement and ring IQ but isn't known for his Punching.

Here is tyson , who seemed indestructible at the time ,

getting dropped in sparring in tokyo in his preparation for Buster Douglas ,

We know what happened there ,

he later talked about his really poor mental attitude at that time

I'm still absolutely flabbergasted someone like Buster Douglas beat Tyson. Just unbelievable.

Surely boxing preparation is just as important as the actual match. Can't think of how many time such and such a fighter looks fat as fuck a couple of months ahead of a fight, and you hear the comm's saying they'll lose that in pre-fight camp.

If AJ wasn't prepared properly then he deserved to lose. IF he was knocked out before which was affecting them, well that's hardly Ruiz fault. And to be fair, it does seem that AJ camp is not using this as an excuse.

Losing because of inadequate prep isn't really excuse making. It means the other bloke is better than you.

@kiwiinmelb Oliver McCall who was one of Tyson's main sparring partners through a lot of his career warned Tyson about how dangerous Douglas was and how he shouldn't sleep on him and Tyson laughed at him and told him he'd be fine in as many words.

It's funny about the rumours with AJ getting tagged badly in sparring as another rumour is that Joey Dawejko also dropped him before the fight which I just don't believe. Dawejko makes Ruiz look like a bodybuilder and his a very low level journeyman.

    Watched this one back.

Far from a formality for Wilder in the re-match.

If Ortiz had started his flurry in the 7th earlier and been more accurate he could easily have finished Wilder

Read Tyson's biography. His training consisted of drugs, alcohol and fornicating. A focussed Tyson would have killed him.

Edit. Have the relevant pages in front of me. "The day before the fight I also had two maids at the same time. And then two more girls, one at a time, the night before the fight."

Joseph Parker to fight Alex Leapai?

Ridiculous, next he’ll be fighting ex league players in charity events

@SammyC Yeah not ideal but it's on short notice and he's no worse than Molina tbh. Would have been a good step up fight for Parker in about 2014/2015 when he was a prospect.
