Only seen a small amount so far, the 9.15pm starts of the BBL have worked better through the mad run into Christmas. Thought for a brief moment that the Volts might make a mess of the chase at the very end yesterday, but they got there smoothly enough.

I watched most of the ND-Wellington game. Brownlie batted so well and deserved his ton. He played a typical T20 shot though when on 99.

Not for the first time I'm puzzled about Flynn's role in the team. He had a season a few years back when he opened and was aggressive. Now with Seifert and Devcich at the top he bats further down the order and continually gets pushed further down for pinch hitters.

And speaking of Devcich, what the fuck is it with firstly Nathan McCullum and now Harris as commentators and pronouncing his name incorrectly? It must be a South Island thing as their co-commentators don't have the same problem.

    Knights v Stags on now.

    Knights made 156
    Stags currently 36/3 from 6.

Interestingly opening bowlers Devcich and Kuggeleijn have bowled right through the power play. It wouldn’t happen too often I don’t imagine.

Also sounds to me like Ben Hurley commentating, is anyone able to confirm this?

Edit: can confirm it is Ben Hurley.

    @booboo a comedian.

So the Knights looked on track for a win up until about the 12-13 over mark. Sodhi & Santner did a great job restricting them while the required run rate was almost 12. Tom Bruce then went into beast mode when the quicks came back on and pretty much won the game on his own.

    Knights murdering the Stags.

Knights scored 230, Stags now 88/9.
    Nethula has figures of 5-14

Knights must be almost unbackable favourites to win the whole thing.

They should have been! Bad days happen but that loss could be seen as a massive choke!

    Yea what a monumental choke.

Excuse me for stating the obvious but that was an awful batting performance as you’ll ever see.
It’s not like they were all clean bowled by a bloody Shane Bond inswinging yorker, they all got out having dirty hreat big heaves. It was terrible to watch. ND should have got that 140 odd in their bloody sleep.
But sport is a funny thing, just as the boys from my footy club learned last year, you haven’t won a damn thing until you’re holding that trophy above your head.

I watched some of that game - mainly to see what Milne was bowling.

He was bowling quick. The commentators said someone had timed the ball from release to the batsman and reckoned he was hitting 151 kmh. Don't know quite how accurate that assessment was, but he certainly was bowling quicker than anyone else I saw.
