Sheesh, look at the cobwebs, this place, like me, needs an over haul!

Sun is shining, summer is upon us and I am a fat cnut...

well not quite that simple, but I have piled on about 5kg in the past 6 months, in part due to a nasty little anti-biotic resistant infection I had that meant I couldnt really do much for about 3 months, hopefully the new range of anti-biotic has done the trick.

Anywhoo, goal is simple, get back under 95kg (was 99.2kg on Saturday night, just about fell off the scales - at this weight tough to re-correct yourself once you start moving)

Started doing a bit of running again the past couple of weeks and still feel pretty decent there, but sore the following day, well sorer than I should be.

MIx running with some punch bag and calisthenics, will hopefully see me move some of the weight, particularly around my belly, which is where all 5kg seems to have gone.

looks like I'm early into my summer routine this year...

Sitting at about 96-97kg at present, goals is always about 95kg.

I still train 4/5 days a week, twice a week am out running on a trail and do some stair 'sprints' while TR Jnr is at Tae Kwon Do, then on weekends do some weights.

As is the case with most my age I expect, its that insulation around the middle that is an issue, outside of that, shoulders, arms, legs probably in as good a nick as I can recall for many years.

Need to keep on top of this now as TR Jnr is getting fitter and stronger, need to be able to beat him for a while yet haha

Amen to all of this. Not only do I have my own boys I have a couple of stepsons to make sure I can still waste. I'm currently 98-99kg depending on the time of day.

@NTA will attest what a good spot I have in the rapa. I wanna pick up a really massive tire ( 800lbs ) for some flips in the front yard. Managed one rep of that at the park in Carterton ( probably woulda failed but some milfs were watching) and as I've read it is the single exercise which targets every single muscle in the human body.

@mn5 if you were up here I could get you a big tyre 🙂

Forgot to mention my Rotator Cuff issue, which is not yet resolved, but getting there.

Incorporating a lot of extra shoulder stuff into everything I do, only thing it seems to restrict me doing is pull ups, but am close to giving them a crack.

I ice it after any workout which seems to help.

4.3km trail run tonight, didnt do the stair 'sprints' just ran on another 700m or so to the top of the hill.

Run starts at 81m elevation, drops down to 50m then about 1.2km up to 210m,the last 500m is pretty average trail, tree roots and water courses, so slow going, not helped by when I got to the turning point, a little bug flew into my mouth and tried to kill me!

These are the stairs I try to 'sprint' up 10 times and then looking out from the top of them

outside destroying our recently deceased Rabbit house with a sledge hammer for about 20mins got a sweat up then I did a workout with frog thrusts, jump squats, pull ups doing reps 1,2,3 up to 10, then form 10 back to 1, with no breaks between exercise changes...

First time I've done pull ups in a couple of months since my rotator cuff decided to be a pain in the arse, was a bit slow , but did it and now a bit of icing and it should be sweet.

Shoulder was a bit tender last night after first pull ups in probably 2 or so months, but iced it and put some arnica on it, was back to what it felt like prior.

today another short sharp high intensity workout.

Deadlifts with 40kg, boxing burpees, sit ups - 2,4,6...20 or 20 mins, whichever comes first.

Was about halfway through my 18 boxing burpees when I realised I hadnt started my watch and I know the TV program I had on in the garage had been going about 20 mins...

@jk yeah I hate road running, so love smashing out those trail runs, despite needing to walk up half of them haha.

@mn5 if our bro up north can get one up to the top of the hill I reckon it'd roll the whole way to Wellies... maybe even over the hill to the rapa!! Be tragic if it collected a jafa on the way through though aye!

Wouldn't get @JK though, he's done too much agility work to get collected by 200kg of rubber!

@mn5 no doubt bro, no doubt! Fark, just googled and they use up to 450kg tires in Strongman. Lightweight baby!

@taniwharugby you need to run a more explicit root, I mean route!!

You'd be surprised Paeks. I did an 800lb one. Bear in mind you're not lifting the entire weight at any time and the trick is to 'drive' through it as opposed to lift it. With your lifting stats ( also the guns were looking magnificent the other night ) you'd nail it easy.

the reason my ROUTE starts at Girls high is TR Jnr has his Tae Kwon Do classes there...plus, I spent enough time there in my 7th form year (>10 years ago...) to not worry about it anymore!!

Anywhoo, bit of rain this arvo so decided to go up Parihaka instead of my run from last week as the trail would have been slippery as.

Starts again at 81m elevation, gets down to 13m before ascending to 230m in about 800m, was 5.94km in the end, which was a bit further than I had thought it would be haha.
