@Victor-Meldrew Cheers. Still struggling with it being a "mistake" I guess more will come out over time.

Over-excited operator? General panic? Poor C&C?
Actually feel sorry for the bloke who ordered the missile fired if that's what actually happened.

I really have no idea. All I can see is the Marx brothers next to an international airport with an armed heat seeking missile and one of them putting his coffee mug down on the launch button. It would be comical if 176 people weren't dead.
The ability of humans to be so incredibly stupid is beyond my comprehension it seems.

I'll add too, that the Americans are incredibly sneaky launching an attack with a Ukrainian commercial airliner from the capital of enemy territory. Nobody was going to see that one coming, except it seems some Iranian with a missile launcher. Well done him.

There were a lot of Canadian citizens on board so they have a big vested interest in this.
also looks like a certain someone is bringing back the bush.
I saw a comment that Trudeau grew a beard as it makes parts of his face look darker to help wean him off blackface.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a photo of Castro without a beard

Fidel gave his most famous speech (“History will absolve me”) defending himself on trial for treason after his first coup attempt (he was imprisoned on the Isle of Pines, then exiled to Mexico, where he collaborated with Che et al for his successful 2nd attempt). He would have been 26 at the time. He was beardless, but had a cool Django Reinhardt pencil moustache.

@jegga those guys sussed out the Malaysian airlines shot down over Ukraine beyond any reasonable doubt ( a fantastic podcast series), so I'm going with their explanations.
They do great work .

Iranian state TV has now climbed down from their “mechanical malfunction” excuse and is admitting the airliner was shot down by their military through “human error.”
Which makes Iranian state tv more reliable than American cable newsers who continue to blame Trump.

@Salacious-Crumb Will be interesting to see if they put anyone up before the courts as either way shooting down an unarmed civilian aircraft must be some sort of criminal offence. The accused parties must be looking at being stood in front of the firing squad if they are found guilty.

Should we expect reparations now that they have admitted fault?
