@SammyC Highlanders fans in the zoo are pretty brutal. Went there as a Chiefs supporter and a fuck the Chiefs chant started.

    Haha love it 🙂

@Bovidae Was even better when the Chiefs won. Me and the Mrs and a mate all Chiefs fans at the front of Zoo stirring up all the bandwagon jumping students. Good fun.

    Great signing by the Blues.

Now can they find a halfback to step up to the mark?

So Otere Black moved from the Hurricanes to the Blues, because he got so little game time behind BB. I can totally see him move back to the Canes, now that BB has followed him to Auckland.

@Stargazer I had, and still kind of do have, high hopes for Black. But he hasn't looked that flash for the Blues. Injuries and limited game time haven't helped much though. Would we want him back or would we stick with current options.

This really hurts at a team level though. I'm all good with players moving for family and for opportunities, but BB has been a central pillar of our franchise and losing a legend is never easy.

Then again it means we can develop new options without having to juggle BB's sabbaticals etc.

Personally I think the answer is in recruiting as many Jags players as possible. If you can't beat em, sign em!

That's probably the most important question - when was the last real quality 9 for the Blues? The standard of the 10s hasn't been great, but they're also reliant on the quality of the ball they're receiving.

How many really high profile players have switched teams? Ali Williams? Lomu? There must be others. Nonu liked to get around (though whether that was his choice).

Flaky first 5 with ropey basic skills and questionable game management. He's got Blues 10 written all over him

@Smudge It's been awhile. I'd say Alby Mathewson's first season or so with us was pretty good, but he declined pretty badly after that.

What price would the Blues pay for someone as good as Cubelli at #9 or a high quality hooker in Montaya, a colossus in the Lineout like Petti, a talented 1st five who can actually kick a ball well in Miotti.......

Obviously, a good signing by the Blues but I don't think Beaudy is going to be the Blues saviour unless the forwards really front up. I just can't see that happening when the rest of their spine is questionable. The Blues might improve slightly but I still think they will be 4th or 5th best in NZ.

Huh? Blues beat Jags at North Harbour a couple of years ago - Rene Ranger offload to Ihaia West for a try in a pretty dour match.

The point is they've effectively solved a gaping hole in their game.
