@MajorRage Cummings isn't even a minister.
Not even an elected official.

I take a different view to you guys. They’re playing up the child welfare thing on the premise that they didn’t have sufficient child care cover if they went down with the virus. It’s a very emotional argument, looking after your kid’s welfare. We’d all be all over that, but come on. One of the most powerful men in the country can’t get child care. Really?
Taking the emotion out of it, was the journey itself that bad? Not really. A bit something and nothing. But the fact is he is now perceived to be of the view the rules don’t apply to him. His actions were either stupid or arrogant in times where the Government can well do without either. His actions and the subsequent sweeping under the carpet have made this the issue of the day when there are far more important things.
Fuck him. Twat.
Cummings is staying...
Possibly. Probably even. I'd guess though that if he does go he will do a Mandelson and be redeemed a few months later. That's if he still wants to be a part of it all.
I must say that I really don't like the idea of non-elected people like him and Campbell before him having the degree of power that they do. Influence is one thing, power is another.

Has no bearing on anything other than political points. Not relevant.

Here's the guidance on living with kids if you have coronavirus and isolating.
Seems pretty clear to me. If I had concerns my wife and I had Covid and had a 4 year old kid, I'd do my best to care for my family.

So why wouldn't people be upset at the gross restrictions forced on them while the scientist who said it could kill half a million ignores the very measures to prevent it?
Agree with you on Ferguson. Breaking lock-down rules for a shag is wrong, dumb and fucking stupid
Cummings, on the other hand, I have sympathy with. The lock-down rules didn't/don't say child safety was something to be ignored. The idea he shouldn't be able to make what he considers the best decision for his family as he's BoJo advisor is ridiculous.

But he's the evil genius behind Vote Leave. And the bloke had the temerity to woo the Northern working classes for the Tories.
And he's weird-looking.

@Victor-Meldrew bojo should have ditched him for now. Big middle finger to the media which is understandable but probably not wise.

Firstly that's been changed from when it took place.
Secondly, family comes first. Agree 100%
But riddle me this, Boris gets it goes off the grid at Chequers and it's announced to the world. Transparent.
Cummings gets it, skulks off. No word. Secretive.
Why?
-
@MiketheSnow why not?
Just seen a headline saying he's facing a possible police investigation. Fucken hell. What a retarded waste.

And Cabinet Secretary also had it and went off grid. Only came out a few days ago.
Even more opaque!

The same para in in the guidance on 17 March - when it was first published.

Hardly. It was in the press at the time when people were criticising the government for not taking enough care. Surely Cummings is entitled to the same privacy rights as any one else isn't he?

It's the bloke who's making the complaint about Cummings being at Castle Barnard going to the Police. He, in turn, is now being asked what he was doing in the same place 60 miles from his home

We have very different views on this.
Hopefully we'll agree to disagree.

He's taking a gamble, that's for sure. Poss. thinks the media are in such bad odour, it's an OK strategy.
It's difficult for his political opponents. Attack Cummings actions too much and they can be seen as using a family problem for political purposes.
I think the whole thing has been handled appallingly though

Yeah but even ignoring the perceptions that his actions would likely cause, was this his best option, let alone his only option? Does he not have a private support group in London? Does he not have access to high levels of care and medical support in the major city in the UK?
I can quite understand your view about doing the best to care for your kid, I would be the same. But you and I do not have the same access to facilities that he has. Given that access, the proximity of first class medical care and ancillary support would you, whilst exhibiting symptoms of Covid-19 decide to drive 250 miles to a place with less professional support and with no protection or support for the journey? Would that be doing the best for your kid?
I really do not buy his story at all. It does not bear scrutiny in the slightest.

I think when kids and medical matters are concerned, politicians and Snr civil servants deserve some space.

118 today. Our lowest it seems like forever. Great stuff.
Got hammered at in laws place today. Gave social distancing the heave ho if honest. As adults we made our call on it and enjoyed ourselves.
Watched Boris presser with glass of vino on hand. He basically gave the media wolf pack the middle finger. As much as I physically hate the media, I’m not sure thst was a great idea.
Standard set anyway.

For sure, but I’m not certain that it applies in this case. To me it looks like he is playing that card. Does he then deserve some space? I might be seeming a little harsh on Cummings here and that might be because, as alluded to earlier it has been handled badly, though I fear it is not just that. Anyway, I think I’m done with this one until one of you bastards reels me back in. 😎

I don't know about what access to care and family he had in London. He'd want to be with family (who are in Durham) as would anyone. It may have been a crap decision, but it's understandable
I think what you are saying that as he's a Snr Advisor, he should have had access to and used facilities not available to Joe Public as he was a different case. But isn't the criticism against him that he saw himself different to Joe Public?

I take your point, But I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt - as any parent does in that situation.

It's a new week tomorrow. Start by researching R rates & airliner sales futures...
