interesting i read an opinion today that because NZ won't be rolling out vaccinations until September, they will actually be closed to international travel longer than someone like the UK, which makes absolutely zero fucking sense really
I think it's just a vaccine scale up and supply thing, the bigger/richer/more Covid-fucked-up nations are ahead of us in the queue to an extent.

just get it fucking sorted!

Hipkins told RNZ's Morning Report programme it was hoped the first batches of vaccines would arrive by March, but countries being ravaged by the virus would be prioritised by the manufacturers.

Recently, a video showing a village official in Gaocheng district in Shijiazhuang, North China's Hebei Province tying an elderly villager to a tree after he insisted on going out to buy cigarettes during a lockdown, has ignited outrage on Chinese social media.

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. This contagion coming from Wuhan in China looks bleak. Massive quarantine, but people have gotten out. Bat soup, ffs.
One year ago today......

Might just be lockdown madness but I’m starting to really come round to this being a Chinese attack on Western democracy.
An ex-buddy of mine (Sunderland fella) married the daughter of a Member of the CCP. He’s got fully involved in it and some of the stuff he was telling us about 18 months ago was quite a bit frightening.
As HK was deep protest struggle he was trying to launch a biz in China so was using the CCP contacts and he said the hatred they had for the UK due to interference in the protests was very very deep. They believed the UK was behind it all. This was before the Chinese ambassador in the UK had his tantrum. Now if you look at how it’s played out ...
UK arguably hardest hit
Country couldn’t get PPE from China at peak phase 1
Home of a new far more dangerous mutant strain
.... and so on.Meanwhile China hits huge growth goals and HK becomes more and more Chinese ....
Have I lost it?

No.
We both spent enough time there to know how it works. The Hong Kong situation is a real shame, we still have friends there, as I'm sure you do. It's not great.
An attack on western democracy might be touch too far but they could well be being spiteful against the UK for whatever reasons suit them.
