The Bluetooth function chews through batteries.
I have just had a client cancel an appointment because she says she has a friend she was with yesterday who has tested positive - in the community.
Don't doubt client - not sure about friend though. Lots of people embroider the rumours they believe to make them sound more credible. Some even on here.
Outrageous claim!

@voodoo I know - I'm embroidering to make it sound more credible
Ah phew. I almost spat out my latte here as I'm sitting and chewing the fat with my mate Richie (he used to play some rugby, you might have heard of him)

@Donsteppa I dont do it for work or gym (although did re-start it for gym last week) do at ~75% of other places I go, most of the big places have numerous ones located, but as always, app is slow opening when I remember to open and use it.
I don't when I go into my store / work either but I should because I am only there for random hours and only those people that I come into contact with would be more at risk if I happen to have it. Yes it stays on surfaces but we use sanitiser, etc.
I would have thought that a "logout" would be sensible too? So anybody that coincided at the same place, at the same time could be logged. I guess the bluetooth part of the app is doing that now but how many people use it?
The tracking is going to be really important if we want to avoid another lockdown (personal privacies aside).
the NSW version though "Service NSW" has a Checkout button - I don't think I have ever remembered to use it.

This.
In a Qld context used QR Codes while on holiday up North.
Only at places where we dined or drank in. Not required at other stores.
Each venue seemed to have a specific website they used, i.e., different company's offering a registration service, not universal govt run. Some had checkout buttons. But whenever I went to use the checkout button it had timed out, or was no longer available.

I'm still using the app and also adding names of people who are with me who don't sign in (my wife is terrible if we're together). I'm not at work (still at the NZ chess champs), but will be back later this week, and have some grapevine knowledge, so will be interesting to see if anything has eventuated. I suspect it was just a directive to update Covid plans for the new strain on the grounds that if it does get out, lockdown is more likely, not that anyone has specific knowledge of impending lockdowns.
Have you seen any pretty redheaded chess prodigies?
Not in real life...

@taniwharugby don't you mean "oh shit!!"

@Paekakboyz nah I got that covered...

always cracks me up listening to some of the people they interview on TV.
Last night was a Kiwi lady who lives in LA, talking baout not being able to get back to NZ due to needing a test, restrictions, quarantine and new rules...
She said 'usually I come back to NZ 4-5 times a year, and my mum comes over 2-3 times a year, so been a bit of an adjustment for us now'
That was the gyst of what she said, not verbatim.
My guess is, someone like this CAN afford quarantine, probably 2 or 3 times a year, this is not the kind of person you need to have on TV hoping to get any sympathy from viewers (not that I think many kiwis are massively sympathetic to any Kiwis not yet returned to NZ for whatever reason)

@taniwharugby yeah there's a lot of entitled BS from overseas Kiwi's. They need to realise that everyone arriving at the border puts our COVID free status at risk and treat it as a priviledge to be allowed entry.
My brother is coming down next week as he has had enough of lockdown in Singapore. He will have to go back again after six weeks but he is prepared to spend the $3.5K and two weeks in isolation in order to have a month of near normal life. He had already booked a COVID test for the day before he leaves Singapore to ensure he wasn't a potential carrier arriving at our border.
His only concern is we go into a four week lockdown just as he comes out of MIQ
