@snowy Yeah. I don't disagree with you but this publicity whoring by National doesn't move us forward even a millimeter.
Disagree. They are part of the pressure that is forcing the government to backpedal.
Put aside your dislike of National for a minute, it doesn’t have to a perfect alternative, the pressure just needs to stop Labour sleep walking to disaster.

Might be time for the army to go around and offer people their choice of shot - Pfizer or Glock.
cements our status as a liberal western democracy.
I'm really concerned about how people are turning on the non-vaxxed. I'm enthusiastically double vaxxed, but a fair proprtion of our societ are about to be properly excluded. I can't see this ending well - they aren't going to get vaxxed, and society is turning against them.

I do wonder how effective the lockdowns would have been if the government sent every household N95 masks.
The problem was compliance among a segment of society who weren't interested in following rules. Would have been more effective to pay them to follow the rules, but not remotely a principled stand, so I can see why that didn't happen.

That pesky freedom eh. Off to the gulags!

For some reason Sergeant Schultz is coming to mind.

So some crackpot I used to work with shared this ( isn’t it funny how people add you when you worked together briefly 15 years ago ? )
Anyway should be an interesting few days.
Amongst loads of other criticisms I think it’S FUCKEN insulting for them to mention 9/11 as some sort of yardstick or comparison.

@tim said in Coronavirus - New Zealand:
@godder I would think that there was also a substantial number of "essential workers" who were a high risk of exposure. Giving them N95 masks would have been a good idea, IMO.
Going by answers in press conferences from Drs Bloomfield and McElnay, very little transmission at work - the main source of transmission has been household contacts (not surprisingly) and illegal gatherings. Things like large retail and workplaces were much less of a problem.

(Just noticed your edit.) And Brian Tamaki as an "Apostle".
The extreme end of the freedom arguments draw some long bows. They love to dwell on WWII or 9/11, etc, but among some of their noise about Third Reich analogies, they seem to neglect to explore aspects like which freedoms did the Allies temporarily give up to win overall.

@mn5 I believe that movement was started by Brian Tamaki....
Yeah his name is on there.
The whole situation is bringing out the worst in people. So much hatred and criticism on both sides.

They have to be fitted properly and used properly, I doubt that could be achieved effectively.
People can't even wear the masks that they have properly
