What's your hatiest shot in golf?

I have two.

1: Crushed drive that splits the fairway (That's not the bad part) followed by a fat wedge! I hate fatting my wedge (Usually reverse pivoting but can't change that mid swing)

2: decel on my short chips that makes it fluff about a foot or two. (To be fair I don't really do that any more as I'd rather be ten feet past than ten feet short

So aware....

Usually happens straight after a boomer of a drive - like 280m on a 300-320m par 4 and then you are still short of the green for 2.

Probably worst for me is when I have to chip out of the trees from the right hand side of the fairway after hitting a fade/slice off the tee. Doesn't happen a lot as I usually hit a slight draw but when it does I often end up trying to punch out a slightly closed 4iron (dont have a 3iron) in to the middle. However i usually end up middling it and cracking it straight across the fairway and out the other side (sometimes even out of bounds etc)

I'm a gun from under trees due to spending most of my golfing experience within them.

Closed five iron punch has a picture of me next to it in Wiki :)

Left hand side of fairway under trees is no issue...but that right hand side just kills me. Pretty much have to try thin it out.

That's my problem then, I try and do that on a 3-iron and have about 50% success rate.

Played 2 rounds whilst home, shot 97 on both. Played matchplay both, and blew a decent lead on both of them. Fair play to my competitors though who won them, more than I lost. But I'm going to be a tradesman and blame my tools - didn't have a rescue which is a key part of my game (both on and off the fairway - ok, mostly off) and thus had to reshuffle my clubs accordingly.

There's no polite way of saying this though. Golf is an absolute fluffybunny of a game.

but I'd play it every day if I could.

Hatiest golf shot? Second on a par 5. As every other fucker is going for the green with their 3 wood - 5 iron, and I'm 100 yard back fucking around in the rough with a 5 iron.

Least favourite shot? Where do you want to start? Any shitty duff that follows a good one. Backing up a cracking drive with a 10m duff with the wedge. Sticking a long approach next to the green, and then duffing the chip 2m in front of you (yes, fucking decel) or worse, going over the back. The overhit putt that ends up on the other side of the hole about an equal distance away from where you took the last one. I am good at all of these.

But the worst, the absolute worst, is when there is one scraggly little branch between you and the green, and if you tried to hit it you couldn't with 10 goes. But you hit that wedge perfect, and it feels awesome off the club, and it juuuust catches a twig enough to slow the ball and leave you 3m short of the green. Fuck you tree, fuck you right in the ass.

And then you duff the chip, over hit the putt, and what was looking like a chance at 4 has turned in to 7.

You're playing my game M4L.

I think nothing enrages me more than the duff - but, I've had enormous practice at that.

Perhaps the one where you think - "the one thing I definitely don't want to do here is...." and like a laser guided missile, that's exactly what you do. Slicing out of bounds, powering it into the lake, dribbling it 20 yards along the ground and into the creek.

oh shit. When i am looking at a green, all i can see is "sand. Water. Rough. Tree" i can never focus on the perfectly mown bit of grass with the flag on it. So of course, where does the ball go?

Yea, when I was 'good' I took it far too seriously and took away any enjoyment I used to get, and it took qualifying for the NZ Amateur, and then playing (poorly) for me to really grasp this

1 - mine arent fat wedges, my are gutted through the back of the green, often out of bounds....

Probably my other thing is when a particular hole gets you, I had 2 holes in particular that I just couldnt do anything with...one was a par 5, straight fairly tight...sweet 5 iron down the middle, shank next 5 iron out of bounds....smoke a drive down the middle, which allows me to catch the down slope and be within 7-9 iron in, that I duly put out of bounds, both wide and long :(

Yes!!! The mockers hole. Our piss easy par 3 tenth has me by the balls. I've even started to shank on it and I don't have a shank. Shits me to tears. Closest I've come to putting my club over my knee in recent times.

At the club I grew up on, which is a short 9 hole course, there is a par 5, which is a short dogleg of 449m with an elevated green...I think it is probably the only par 5 on any course I have played more than a few times I have never putted for eagle on, and I have probably had only a handful of birdies on it, despite me playing the course significantly more than any other!

Had a shitload of bogies with a penalty strokes on it!! :ireful:
