Rumours from those in the show/know is that what we have seen so far makes much more sense from the last couple of episodes.
With regard to his character they could have left him as a bounty hunter but that would have probably got boring quickly in a rinse and repeat way. The bounty hunter vs his employers story has been done already as well.
This 'Book of...' is meant to explain his journey away from being a bounty hunter. His humbling from the sand people and change of occupation. His humbling from reliance of his armour.
Don't forget that it was only this week that the droid said 'you are now fully healed' which explains away his weakness in fighting. It has been a clunky ride but they also have to fit in some set pieces somehow.
The worst part has been the introduction of the tech modding. Trying to work that in as a play on words with 'mods' and the brit subculture of the same name has been truly awful. I suppose they thought that 'punk' had been done to death?
Excellent point.
Just reinforces how shite storm troopers are though, he fucked them up in Mando when he hadn’t even had one bacta tank session.
I’m assuming when you wake up from one you’re still pretty groggy which explains why he struggled against bad Chewie ( who to be fair is obviously a ferocious opponent )

@mn5 is that right? To be on that planet he must have had his ship right? So far through his healing.
I'm not paying too much attention to the timeline though
His meeting with mando was after the latest flashback ( fennic alive and artificially fixed ) but before he took over the Palace which happened at the end of Mando…..I think…..
Things would have been very interesting if he met up with Luke again when he turned up to pick up Grogu.
Now I think about it the storyline of Cobb using the armour is a bit stupid.

@kirwan said in Star Wars VII ****contains spoilers****:
@mn5 how did he get off Tatooine without his ship?
If I have the timeline right it goes like this...
In BoBF he got his ship back then went looking for his armour, which he still thought was in the Sarlacc (obviously couldn't remember crawling out with it still on).
Story picks up in Mando where he watches Mando take out the Krait dragon and Cobb giving Mando the Fett armour (maybe following the same story of someone in Mandolorian armour that Mando did).
Fett and Fennec track Mando and Grogu to the planet with the jedi rock thing and fight with him for the return of the armour.
Then after the mission to save Grogu they return to Tatooine and take over the palace. -

I don't. I guess it depends on your viewpoint.
I think this show has gone out of it's way (possibly too much) to explain Fett's journey from the previous uncaring mercenary . Being humbled and having to re-earn respect. Realising he relied on his armour to be strong etc. Working out that working for scum only leads to bad places. Being willing to work with others etc.
I get that it has changed his character and that some might prefer the old version but can't see how you would make a show from the old one.
Maybe he was best left alone or as a side interest that appeared from now and then. -

TBF, and movie universe only, for all the hype Boba Fett wasn't really much of a character, he was cool though. No matter what they did here he'd lose some of that mystique.

Exactly, what "character" did they change? He was a guy in suit that was mysterious. That's not a character, it's a poster.

haven't watch the ep yet....intrigued

Novels/Comics (unless recent) won't be canon and he was a kid in Clone Wars. I skimmed the article, was silly.

I also disagree with the article. Was just commenting that the position taken was on a wider view than the movies alone.

The premise.
It only works if they ignore the plot of the series, as Crucial has pointed out, is that his time with the Raiders changed him. He didn't "patiently embed" himself with them, he was wounded and recovering, and grew to respect their culture.
The last episode spelled it clearly, he saw a better way to live and is now trying to build it. Otherwise known as a character arc.
We can quibble with some of the excecution, the mod bikers weren't to my taste for example. But that is just personal taste at the end of the day. Any jarring things like that tend to settle on rewatches, like most of the weird prequel shit.
The show is fine, the character is not "ruined".

That's the crux of the problem. Despite having like 2 seconds of screen time people developed an idea of what type of character he was. I think these expectations were reinforced by the other snippets of info available about him. The guy being portrayed now doesn't match those expectations. That's obviously good or bad depending on if you like or dislike the Boba being presented in this series. I think the article does a decent job of making that point.
Personally it's not how I envisaged him and the series is disappointing in that regard, but if others like it then good luck to them.

I've blocked Crucial so haven't read anything from him but I'm not sure how the premise can be "silly". Ultimately it's about the character being changed and arguing that it isn't for the better. I agree with that. You disagree, fine. But it doesn't make it "silly".

It’s silly to ignore the plot to have to make their point. You can substitute incompetent if you prefer.
