Caleb Clarke rightfully getting lots of plaudits, but I was especially pleased with Hodgman.

I was a bit concerned about his early entry, but he scrummed well and was active around the park. ESPN says 8 tackles and no misses.

With all due respect to Big Karl, he would have needed 8 guys to run into him to match that.

His stats say that he's 1.96 metres tall. Is that correct? If so, he needs to watch out - that's a tall lock to John Plumtree! 🙂

That would be you if other teams aimlessly kicked to yours.

Actually the ABs did a couple of times, but we don't have Caleb Clarke.

@Chris-B I was concerned about Hodgman too. I remember Hodgman being destroyed by Taniela Tupou a couple of years ago in a SR game and feared that he would not be able to handle him at scrum time, but he ended up getting the upper hand which was a pleasant surprise. Feek seems to be doing a very good job with our scrum.

my guess was, some of those infield box kicks were deliberate so that the ball was away from those 2 blockers teh Wallabies have used to effectively to break up the kick chase.

that might be wishful thinking though.

Can you imagine Caleb Clark and Salesi Rayasi on the wings for the All Blacks ..?, that would be a handful for any defence , with Wil Jordon or BB at the back, that would terrorise most backlines in the world ..in my opinion Rayasi has been superb in the Mitre 10 cup.

I think more just backing the AB line defence to do the job - which it didn't a few times, and the scramble defence to clean up the rest - which it did more often than not.

Did Rayasi have a SR contract this year, Steven? I agree, he's been outstanding. Really enjoy watching you guys on the Driving Maul btw.

I've not seen much of either, but how are their kicking boots? Just wondering about territorial game as not everything is about running it back.

Teach Koroibete to catch, or Tupou to hold onto the ball...

Ben Afeaki has done a really nice job with the Blues scrum too. Hodgman's scrum improvement this year in Super was noteworthy.

On Tupou, he had that one good run early on, and then the ABs just lined up to knock him over and he barely had a decent run after that. Did niggly Coles get in his head?

Rayasi has/had a Hurricanes contract for 2020-2021, but is also part of the All Blacks 7s.

    @Nepia Yeah - he's a worse Kyle Sinckler.

People bang on about his running game but for me his best attribute at SR level was his scrummaging. He can single-handedly demolish a scrum.

He doesn't seem to be able to translate that to test level. I prefer 7A's at test.

Rayasi has a strong left foot as he has played a bit at fullback. One of them would have to switch to the right wing.

I hope he focuses on 15s next year. With Cobus and Lam gone, he should be a guaranteed starter for the Canes.

@akan004 If the Olympics go ahead next year, I hope he focuses on 7s, because I want NZ to win gold. But that's still a big "if".

OOoooooooo I don't really want to ask this as I'm reasonably ignorant with front row goods and bads but are we over-egging the pudding saying how well our props went given the oppositions historic rubbishness at being a front row strength?

@nta will have a thing or two to say about that - the Wobs scrum isn't what it was; if they are poor, then so are all scrums in SRA

That was actually taken care of - had a shocker.
