The rest of your - admittedly deliciously spicy - rant was superfluous

If you're the CEO on a workday fronting a press conference, how hard is it to turn up in a suit and tie?
Probably trying to show how cool and one of the common people he/she/it/they is / are

When the kids finally left, I said quietly, "thank fuck they've gone" to a knowing smile or two from other remaining adults.....
Not that they are bad kids, or that their parents are bad parents - very, very much the opposite - but there seems to be a modern theory of child-rearing that you let them find their own discipline and way of doing things. So you end up with a 14 yr old thumb-sucker who kneels on the table chair, uses his hands to shovel his food into his mouth with one elbow on the table supporting his head - which is about 6 inches from his plate. And wipes his sticky, greasy hands on our new, fabric covered dining room chairs - repeatedly.
I don't have a problem with parents bringing their kids up in what way they choose, just don't assume we're in on the same semi-new-age parenting shit. And when they do fuck up our stuff, at least show some concern for the damage caused.

@Victor-Meldrew how deep did you dig the hole?
Self-regulation aside there is no excuse too not instill some degree of manners and empathy. In our household genuine accidents are given a pass but listening and respecting people is #1. Well as much as Ms 5 and Mr 2 give a shit!
Don't be a dick is pretty much the MO!

@MN5 you didn't accidentally sober up did you!? That'd be tragic!
Even worse, it gave me ample time to put serious thought into thinking about the wankiest beer I could possibly get.

You can’t just put that out there and leave it. What was it?

I can’t remember but the strongest I had was the Paul Mason Brandy Barrel aged Sea Monster Imperial Oatmeal Stout ( 13.1% )

@MN5 you'd be sober before you finished saying the bloody name ffs 😄
I remember pointing and saying “that one”…….even those two words were tough after the strong ones I’d had prior !

Yep. That’d do it.
What’s the gimmick this year? Crutches?

A drag artist partnering a Terf Lesbian and dancing a depiction of the conflict surrounding the Cotton Ceiling probably.

Oh yeah. That shit.
We've got one of our "People and Culture" goals in our annual review called: "Just 1 Thing". The idea is that we're all going to fight for the rights of the people in the LGBTQI+ and ATSI communities. People to whom I cannot relate basically anything in my life experience.
I don't really know where to start with this. I am fully supportive of everyone we work with in terms of their sexuality or indigenous status. If anyone steps out of line on this, I'll be the first one to call out their bullshit. And my boss knows that.
But if the idea is that everyone else has to actively pursue an activity that shows we're waving flags or girding our loins for war, then how does it in any way normalise the very people we're trying to protect.
Come to me when there is a problem. Otherwise, accept my silence as tacit support for everyone's choices. We're working here, not having a parade.

This, so much. It's not doing anything except generating backlash.
- The people who "need" to be educated - aren't going to be... They're not going to do anything but hold it up as something to fight against.
- The people who don't... just... don't. And if nothing else, might become disillusioned, and backlash themselves.
I'm tempted to become a "Corporate Inclusivity&Sensitivity Consultant" with just the tagline: "Just... don't be a fluffybunny"

Just put a rainbow flag in your work email signature block so you can point to it if asked then move on with your life.

The Rainbow flag is a slippery slope to the Trans Ally Flag and then all the others.
Before you know it, your sig block is more vexillology than signature...
