Not a fond test for Paine.

Terrible drop. The utter two from Lyon I could forgive, but not that rubbish

@NTA I wonder what the thinking is with Paine moving forward.

He's 36, doesn't have a test century and there are some worrying signs with his captaincy in this series.

@KiwiMurph it's a good point. There are others available I'm assuming, and while he's been good for the captaincy, age and performance are catching up with him.

This has been a crazy series. Had a bit of everything. Whatever happens from here the final test is going to be dynamite.

This would have been even tenser if we'd had another hour or so of Pant.

@KiwiMurph He does a fine job with the bat tbh. You don't really need to be scoring centuries at 7, but yes, the question is worth asking as to whether he stays as their captain and keeps his place in the side.

Yeah Pant needed to hang around for probably about be 10-12 overs to make it even more interesting.

It’s enthralling stuff with injured players on a 5th day trying to save a match.

I get that Kohli is a bit of a knob and their administrators think they run the world but when they play tests like this is pretty hard not to enjoy this Indian side.

@Cyclops shown a lot of grit without any carry-on.

Short turnaround for our bowlers will be concerning now. Indian injuries are going to harm their chances but Bumrah and Siraj won't mind The Gabba at all

    He’s no Ganguly...

I think Kohli has mellowed a bit and calmed it down a notch or two.

Rahane, Ashwin, Jadeja, Rohit, Bumrah are all class IMO.

What will the headlines be tomorrow?

“Paine-ful hands gifts draw to Indians”

    “Paine-ful to watch”

    “Paine-less future for Australian cricket”

@Hooroo if they've got any sense, the papers will be taking it up as one of the best Test series this century. Not short on drama.

Well, Vihari still hasn’t got past 20-odd in the series, but it’s one of the best 20-odd scores he’ll ever bat.

That's a win for India in my book.

    Bring Abbott in for Starc?

They do run world cricket and, under their watch, NZ has used their money to become the best side in the world, not to mention that kids can now aspire to be multimillionaire cricketers on a scale never before seen.

The game has been in rude health for a decade now, coincidentally ever since the game was wrested from England and Australia.

@NTA Not a bad idea given how spent the Aussie bowlers would be. 4th test in a row in a relatively short period of time.

I noticed last week that whenever you're reminded of the "15 overs in the last hour" rule automatically gives you a pearler of a test match 🙂
