I don’t see him going unless pushed. He is still in the delusion of “we are making progress, just needs a few minor tweaks”. No one is buying it any more.

But they did make progress. Only thing is, their starting point was so low after the Irish series.

    So technically, he's right 🙂

No they didn't, they actually had some (2) good quarters versus Irish. Foster's extra shit attack cancels out the improvement Ryan has made in mauls, lineout. So, overall, No improvement

I'd say the defence was better against the Boks. Then again, the Bok attack seems to have 3 plays - maul, run direct repeatedly until the defence runs out of numbers and high kicks. The Bok defence could be construed as an attacking option as it forces mistakes and broken field opportunities.

And before the Bok posters start raging, I'm not having a pop at the Boks. They play their way and are happy to do so. Rugby is a contrast in styles and the Boks have their specific style. However, the Bok approach leaves them susceptible to teams that take a risk and the bounce of the ball favours them on the day, e.g. England in November.

Which is why it will be fascinating to see how the complicated/varied Irish attack goes against this Bok defence in November.,And how the French go against the Boks in November too.

    Normally a good sauce too.
Close to the action that posters sauce.

Putting Schmidt in is just a waste of time. If Foster goes just give it to Razor.

@akan004 that kind of reads like more changes to the assistants than Fozzie getting the pip. But if there is a change in head coach and it isn't Razor, then I expect riots. Even if things have changed and Schmidt has decided he will/can travel if NZ Rugby keep cockblocking Robertson there will be many, many, unhappy fans.

Shit. That means it's gonna happen aye?

    Fuck.

I should qualify that post (lol a ban offence around here!) that I really like and rate Schmidt. But I want Razor in charge with Schmidt working with him on selection and driving development and scouting. If any changes come with a clear transition plan to Razor post 2023 and he's cool with that then I could handle that jandal. Just!

@Paekakboyz Who knows. Hopefully it's a bit like that unfounded rumour about Cane losing his captaincy.

The other possibility is that he turned them down and I can see why Razor might not want the top job now, he's got a year to turn this rubble around and we probably don't have the cattle to win the RWC regardless of the coach, so it's a risky job to take atm.

Why was the Will Foster go thread merged with the Fozzie out thread?

    They're 2 different questions.

Schmidt as NZ DoR makes sense. It is NZ based and it allows him to use his attention to detail to put in place a long term strategy to identify talent and develop players and coaches fit for the test arena. It is a long term job, but it fits in with his strengths and removes any need for him to travel.

Considering his history I'd unkindly suggest they've achieved in spite of him.

Hehe. I know. In 2021 he nearly walked because of the Women's rugby debacle, but you can't deny he has been in place for a number of years and the Irish setup is now humming. He is the most powerful man in Irish rugby in reality because he is responsible for all High performance across all age groups and both sexes.
