Future Locks after RWC???
-
I'd like to know if there are younger locks kicking around with great promise.
Because this position above all looks the worst after Retallick and Whitelock retire.I like the look of Zach Gallagher. That's about all I have noticed.
-
Josh Lord looks to have the much desired "mongrel".
-
@Frank the coaches like ScoBa and Tupou Vaa'i
-

I agree. Hopefully heâs adding some more muscle to the frame during his injury break
I think Selby-Rickit would go well if given the chance. 26years old, so about to enter the prime years for a tight forward
-
How bout Pari Pari Parkinson ? Always handy to have a guy who is about 25 feet tall although he needs to bulk up.
-
Soft
-
@MN5 I think he needs to show more, first. And, like Quinten Strange, he breaks very often.
-
@Duluth said in Future Locks after RWC???:
Soft
Yeah I know you donât need to keep reminding me, but Iâm talking about him.
-
There have been negative comments about Frizell and Reece being selected because of their off-field records. Selby-Rickit is way worse in that respect.
-
I really rate Gallagher I also like the look of Sangster,And young Josh Beehre.

He's definitely working on his mullet.

@Chris Beehre? Has hardly played NPC and hasn't shown much. Didn't shine for the U20s either. Way too soon IMO.
Sangster looks promising.

Just one for the future for me not maybe straight after the WC but maybe the 2 years after.

Josh Dickson would only be 28 in 2023.
-
@Bovidae Yeah, was thinking the same.
If he stays in NZ, I think Scooter will be the senior lock. Vaa'i and Lord will probably be there and Gallagher and Dickson have a good chance, too. I don't think our locking stocks are that bad.
Big factor will also be who the ABs coach is after RWC 2023.
-
This post is deleted! -
Vaa'i has been given a few chances and has shown fuck all so far.
Not saying he should be dropped, but he has hardly set the world on fire. -

If it's Foster, he'll stick with Whitelock and recall Ian jones. Loyalty and all that.
-
Holland might be the U20 lock who makes the step up first.

I thought Hicks showed well this year and is the same age, looks like he can cover 6 too. But another from Ta$man eh.
-
@Bones Guess where he's actually from.

Born at Rosmini college? Ugh.

@Frank the coaches like ScoBa and Tupou Vaa'i
I know there's been a need to play the A team as we always have our backs to the wall, but Vaa'i needs more game time and I think the coaches know that.
Hope he gets a decent run in Bled 2.

Geez really? I only remember him for like 3 or 4 seasons.
edit: so yeah 5 years at the highlanders. Another Aussie though.

Justin Sangster from Bay of Plenty, Isaia Walker-Leawere from the Hawkes Bay

I wouldn't be surprised if my muddled brain has him confused with someone else from years ago. All the Highlander locks look the same to me.

Remembered a story about Sam Darry moving to Auckland and Steve Hansen saying âcongratulations, youâve just signed a future all black captainâ. Anyone else recall this?

Sam Darry's need to be bigger. String-bean locks don't cut it nowadays.

Of course, both have had great seasons provincially aswell as for the Canes. Walker-Leawere in particular brings plenty of size and mobility which is needed at international level.
-
Big fan of Walker-Leawere. Just needs some game time for the Canes without the useless Blackwell
Future lock for me:
S Barrett
T Vaii
J Lord
I Walker-Leawere
S Darry -
Darry's name popping up a few times now. What's with that? Anytime I've seen him, he seems to have less impact than Blackwell and is more stringbean than Lord.

Kid excites me most, has everything I reckon.
