Southee a bit too good for Crawley. Just need him to get a feather on one of those.

Yep better length from Southee than Wagner who is just too full.

Yeah, he's spent so long bowling either full or short as first change, it's probably not that easy for him to settle into the right lengths with a new ball. Man we could use Boult and Jamieson right now.

Not great stuff from Wags, squandering the new ball. He should probably remain first/second change regardless of who else we pick.

I kind of think we need to have them about five down by close of play tonight, because if they bat past "lunch" tomorrow, we're going to be at dire risk of being skittled under lights on the third day.

I haven't been following the test until tonight. I see that Conway and Blundell got runs. Nicholls missed out.

I probably could have told you that before it began.

Nicholls will make runs just as he's about to be dropped, kicking the can down the road a bit longer

we're getting pumped here. Not cool at all. This is critical in the test, and we're losing the initiative and the beneficial conditions.

Tickner starts with a bunch of short shit as well. I'd take CdG in a heartbeat right now.

Southee unlucky not to have a wicket yet. He needs some support at the other end though.

I think he's going to need to score in the second innings.

I have defended Nicholls in the past but he's terribly out of form, and he isn't of such a class that the team can afford to carry him. Time for Will Young to get another go. Maybe at 3 and let KW drop down a place.

Young is an option for sure and a strong arguement can be made to give him more opportunities, but he has failed to take his chances so far. Things are so bad that aside from Young there is virtually nobody else. Maybe Ravindra, but despite being one of the more talked up youngsters he seems to be getting held back for some reason. As much as I don't rate Nichols I can see why he is still there.

Marvellous day here again. Crowd is packed. Great atmosphere. My mate sitting next to me got hit by a six yesterday. Big bruise on his foot. Might be a bruise or two in barmy army zone today from Pope

Do England declare tonight or just keep piling on the runs?

The problem with Ravindra is that he hasn't really even dominated domestic cricket. He looked promising and many people have said he is a future Black Cap but he hasn't managed the step up to even first class or list A cricket.

I was wondering that. It's only the 3rd day, their approach really does advance the game quickly. If I were them I'd probably just look to pile on the runs and then give themselves 5 -6 sessions to bowl us out, were very unlikely to survive that long.
