Whitelock and Scott Barrett were huge in that last sequence.

@nostrildamus well around here a quote i heard recently seems apt...

If you meet more than 3 assholes in a day, maybe you are the asshole.

Depends if you're a proctologist or not.

    Watch it again and enjoy!!

No doubt the pass at 79:57 was a mile forwards too.

    Barnes being Barnes

@JayCee was a ruck about phase 14, BR was over the ball, should have ended there, Barnes called away and BR quickly pulled away, so often players keep going when they have won it...the discipline in those 30 odd phases was something rarely seen by this AB side.

Thought Foster summed it up well: "A cut and paste attack"

@Victor-Meldrew tbf that would have typically worked on our usually passive d and ill-discipline.

    and TamEYEti Williams

Rupert Cox probably. Has him on the Stan commentary. Idiot has Kal Te Nana effectively correcting him and still he keeps up the SarVayer.

They backed their "cut and paste" attack to pry open the ABs defence.

That was quite the telling comment from Foz.

As if, in actual fact, they have fuck all variation, and once you figure it out, you can defend it all day.

I noticed this in my drunken haze at the ground. It was all very methodical.

Boks guy was commenting on same at pub last night, and how slow Sexton was. Perhaps after the 30th phase a pop kick might have been worth a shot? Definition of insanity and all?

    They were 4 points down

@booboo the last 20 or so phases they looked both farked and devoid of ideas, hate to say it, but exactly how we have often looked in recent years shovelling it left to right.

On Stan if you don’t click on the first option of watch live , scroll down you get the option of nz commentary.

I only recently discovered it myself.

Fozzie's master plan revealed post RWC: spend 3.5 years systemically eroding over 100 years of rugby mana, lulling our opponents into a false sense of security, and creating massive seige mentality and presenting our team with a huge chip on their shoulders for the push to RWC glory

@His-Bobness Nice write up, but I've hated the Irish (in a rugby sense) since coulda-doid and their fanbase started turning nasty (I also remember them supporting the Aussies over us in 91 even though the Aussies knocked them out) - add to that their players in front of the ball I highlighted earlier in the thread and of the top 4 teams they are the team I least wanted to win the RWC.

Plus, I had a run in with that prick Irish journo Gallagher on twitter who was being a twat over NZ PIs on twitter.

Plus plus, my Irish ancestry is of the Jewish persuasion, and although they took my Eastern European ancestor in after the odd pogrom or two in the east they still didn't make it a welcoming place for even my Ireland born Jewish ancestor. Which I guess had the benefit of getting to NZ eventually to help colonise my other ancestors. 😉

In saying all that I'll still support them over England.

Having lived in Ireland one thing I found weird was how it’s almost impossible to become Irish. In NZ if you emigrate here and want to make a go of it we treat you as a kiwi fast as. There they are really protective of bring Irish. It’s definitely a country where you could live 60 years and stil be viewed as a foreigner. Despite all their history of emigration themselves.

    @canefan

I was thinking more along the lines of: "We'll fool these buggers into thinking our D is crap and one-dimensional and they won't worry about varying their attack when they next meet us.."

But seriously, I do wonder if Foster & co had noticed something robotic about the Irish attack when chasing a game down and planned for that in their defensive preparation.
