    @jegga said in Anzac Day:

    Rosemary McLeod said in one of her columns how deeply she regrets protesting Anzac services in the 70s with her friends . Mostly they were ranting about women who were raped during war and how they weren't being honoured. She said the worst part was the old blokes at the service never told them where to go let alone gave them a much deserved kick up the arse .
    I get the impression the fuckwits that protest these sorts of things would like nothing better than some free publicity from getting a hiding and nothing would get under their skin more than a resounding "meh".

    As I alluded to in my other post. All those 70s bra burning bitches should be first in line to actually celebrate that the ANZACs fought for their right to carry on like that I the first place. Some cultures would shoot them on the fucken spot.

    Apparently there were some anti war protesters out, not sure if they were being obnoxious or not but the young fellow seems pretty worked up about them

    They are protesting against war on a day we honour those who sacrificed to keep our freedom; of course they're being obnoxious

    He's a snot nosed little kid who wouldn't know a tit from his elbow. Perhaps after he's served, he might just appreciate people have a wide range of views...

    @MN5 I rewatched Stand by me last night and after seeing it I'd prefer it if he incited a barfarama amongst the pinkos like Lardass did by chundering on the cretin he was talking to.

    Of everything you've ever posted this is by far the most baffling.

    @antipodean Yeah, watching it on the news the father comes across as a pussy for letting his son do all the talking.

    Lardarse already has the makings of an annoying politician.

    @Bovidae given it was recorded, you do wonder if they knew the protesters would be there and the dad probably encouraged the kid to give them a serve as less chance anyone will hit the kid (although...) and less chance the kid would get in trouble.

    Ah righto. Definitely saw it but never stuck in my mind like other movies of that era.

    Very much. Neither look remotely familiar with burpees or push ups either.

    If you watch the doco this guy features strongly , he did an am zing job under the circumstances

    There is a book or two about the Battle of Long Tan and the Kiwis feature.

    Pissing rain, shit conditions, RPGs going off everywhere and a fuckload of confusion. Want to have your calculations just right for that.

    One of the standout sections in the book I read was the aftermath - most of the guys they found dead were still in place, set up with rifles on their bergens, pointed outward.

    HIs competence saved Delta Company. It's impossible to overstate the importance of close fire support in keeping the 6RAR boys alive.
