Proof journos trawl TSF for story ideas.

From the RIP 2020 thread posts on David Halligan.

We called them pubs at the time. Everybody was still on the booze but it was all in one room and ended in punching. Was Deans versing Hewson after that?

I remember Halligan though, deserved a go.

And what turns up in Stuff?

Stunning article. Because who knew time travel existed? Appears this lady from 1950 has just arrived.

    what a shitty headline, because:

The way it works is players compete for the same trophy, play alongside each other in the same field and courses are prepared to keep play as even as possible.

So, on a long par three for example, the women’s tee is set up so they should be playing a long iron onto the green – just as the men would from their tee positions further back.

NZG are diligent in the way they structure the course. You wouldn’t have a man hitting a mid iron, and a woman a long iron off their respective tees. That wouldn’t be fair and the idea, if the course has been set up in an optimum way, regardless of gender the better player should win with both genders hitting like-for-like shots around the course.

For that to be true, they would tee off the same tees.

@taniwharugby Ms Cato No2’s b/f is a Royal Marine, when asked about female recruits to the corps was fine “as long as they have the same training and meet the same tests and targets as the men”. The training they go through and what they achieve is incredibly impressive but it is not the same as the men. This does not impress the guys.

Yep. Over the top wording for sure "world". Uh huh.

However as a fan of design, aerodynamics and hydrodynamics (same thing in many ways) that is an impressive machine.
40 kts in 10kts of breeze or something, insane performance. The calls to keep the "cats" due to their speed look a bit dated now. I would guess these beasts point higher than the cats as well as achieving the boat speeds, so faster overall. Incredible and I reckon well done for taking the chance. It is genuinely the F1 of yachting now.

Might have to resurrect that Americas cup thread.

Casual NZ yachting ‘fans’ who get excited and over the top when Team NZ does well are the absolute worst.

A bit like athletics, track cycling and rowing, etc at the olympics every four (five) years?

Na I think yachting ones are the worst, I have a few on FB who share some sickening "get on the bandwagon" bullshit whenever Team NZ are racing.

I shouldn't but it gives me something to get "Grumpy Old Man" about if I ever feel like I'm running out of material.

True. My latest GOM rant might be about people criticizing people who criticize Foster.

I thought that stuff had hit rock bottom awhile back and when they sold for a $1 I thought they might just take in where they currently were and think about how they might change to win people over again. Well of course the cynical side of me was saying but the person who bought helped drive it to its value of a dollar.

Needless to say they don't disappoint my cynical side and continue with their agendas that I'm sure the head bobbers agree with but just how is the stress for their current owners?

HELLA yeah, man. I've been thinking that for ages, but wasn't peak-Frans-Botha enough to say it.
    What's your opinion on Foster?
EDIT: Shit, re-reading this in the morning, sober, @Blackeyeagain 's post actually makes sense. Sorry - on first read, I legit thought this was a robot talking absolute nonsense.
