    Another thought

The current ABs are like the Norwegian athlete Jakob Ingebrigtsen

When they can control the pace, tempo and tactics they lead from the get go and build up a lead and momentum which more often than not leads to victory

When they can't do that and have to either defend a lead or come from behind they often lose

By kicking the ball away so badly they put themselves in scenario 2

Super interesting comp actually. Some merit in it. Not so much in the “have to lead and control” part, but more in the “dominant over longer periods, but can struggle to withstand the pressure of a couple of challengers peaking at the perfect moment”.

As an aside, that 1500m was pretty wild - with hindsight, you could have absolutely scripted that for Hocker. Sit in the pocket, watch Jakob move out to block Kerr, slip up the inside, and hope to win with a time that isn’t a Jakob/Kerr pb

Perfect race for him - he’s basically SA rugby…

Wow, that's cool!! The olds are on a tour following the team. Being from Wellie they will feel right at home!!

    Hope they're having fun!
They chose an excellent week for Cape Town - it's unseasonably warm and dry this week.
Today is 29 degrees and while it gradually cools towards the weekend, it should still be sunshine.

They've been on safari, I think they are at Victoria Falls. Off to Capetown later in the week. A trip of a lifetime

That will depend on who loses ... and who they blame 😉

They thought the atmosphere at Ellis Park was amazing, just crazy getting in and out. They walk okay, but would have preferred it if the bus could have got them a little closer!!

If they're planning on being at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday best you warn them that vehicles can't get too close there either. But it is not super far from basically any drop-off point, and pretty flat.

Glad they enjoyed the Ellis Park atmosphere. It can be something special when heaving.
Cape Town likewise will be good for different reasons. Likely they will see a lot of AB jerseys there..!

They are on a NZ based bus tour. So I would imagine the walk to the ground is pretty standard, like any major sporting ground

Assume their tour will take them to Caprice at Camps Bay the day after the test for a long recovery / celebration session?

I mean…very generous…but also - it’s also a bit embarrassing to think that some of us kiwis are genuinely upset about this - its a fucking A380, it’s kinda hard to time and manoeuvre perfectly!

All seems a bit precious to me

Edit - just checked and he wasn't in the listed team this week for Counties. He wasn't a couple of weeks ago too when I bothered to take a look. Is he injured?

Hard to know because their social media is terrible.

My uncle used to be the head gardener at Boschendal

@Brandon No apologies needed IMHO. Teams can respond to the Haka how they see fit as long as they don't physically assault the players during the challenge, then I expect the ABs to fight back.

    Good sentiment Sparky.

Interestingly enough - the Boks (and Bok fans) relish the tradition and honour of facing the Haka.
Which is why Saturday's debacle probably riled us up more than you Kiwis!
The plane - couldn't be helped. But the stadium DJ... abominable.
