Interesting comment from Rod Carr, which betrays an increasingly common sentiment among western greens that eating protein is bad. I hope they like diabetes, because that's what a western/chinese/non-poverty diet with less protein with exacerbate.
"We're not feeding the world. Our milk and meat protein provides the daily requirement for about 40 million people out of [a world population of] 8 billion. We are feeding relatively affluent people, who are consuming protein well above the daily allowance. From the developing world's point of view, we are not feeding the hungry poor.
Fuck that.
Protein is awesome, how else do you get #gainz ?

there appear to be an increasing number of people running major government initiaitives in Wellington that are ideologically rather than practically driven.
This argument about climate change shits me. Our sole key argument must be how to get carbon emissions down as effectively as possible. Instead, we're getting centralised control mindsets saying we'll figure out which bits of the economy can have carbon to spend. It's nuts.
Rod Carr seems to have gone full loopy lefty. And the major report before the budget his year was embarassing - so many placeholders and things to be developed. I think climate change is the existential threat for our planet right now, and I don't think we have a hope of tackling it collectively.

Planet will be fine, we might not be.
You can tell it's all ideological as if you even mention exploring Nuclear as an option, suddenly importing coal is perfectly fine. NZ could stand up a couple newer design plants and be energy independent - advantage of being a small country.
Chance of that happening is zero to none.
-
@Kirwan yup, we have this unbelievably powerful energy source in our hands that produces almost no waste, and we just don't use it. I can't take any of the climate change stuff seriously because of that. I guess when shit gets really bad that'll force us into using Nuclear, until then it's all just bullshit noise.

Only very occasionally did I see somebody so adamant that they pretended to adhere to the suggested course, wait for the mob to dissipate, and then get back out again to have another go.
Hours of entertainment.Imagine the fun if the Chinese implemented this road scheme here in Devon.....
I don't think I ever rode to Devon, but I certainly saw something similar elsewhere in the UK, maybe?
I remember - as a relatively new biker - just riding into some town, and seeing the road-sign telling me what was coming up.... W. T. A. F? Just the road-sign - equally amusing and terrifying. -

@Kruse Hemel Hempstead.
Yeah - possibly. It was a long time ago, but that was certainly in range of my early days riding the countryside.
So yeah - imagine the trepidation of a naive kiwi kid riding around, having nearly mastered proper actual motorways, and then coming across this bloody road-sign...

@Kruse yep, I lived near and in Watford and visited St Albans so hit that one numerous times.
Think they used to call it the Magic Roundabout?
Yeah - apparently the official name is the Plough Roundabout, but the commonly used nickname is the Magic Roundabout - matching the several others around the place.
-
The Plough Roundabout? Asking for trouble...
