You need to go to the Republic with 3 halfbacks. I don't know what the rules are exactly but the only way you have 2 halfbacks in your squad is if you can take non squad members to South Africa.

Sounds about right, but I would take 2 first fives and 3 halfbacks, would count Barret as an outside back.

There are no restrictions like the World Cup that I am aware of. You could probably take as many players as you want to but you would think that the NZRU would have budgets etc that it has to stick by.

Makes life easy. My squad right now, assuming that SBW isn't picked. Not much for discussion is there? My only pick outside the box is Luatua. He's just playing too good to leave at home IMO so I guess they choose between Dixon or Squire, I picked Dixon as he has slightly more versatility:

Hookers: Coles, Harris, Taylor

Props: Crockett, Moody, Franks, Faimuina, Ofa

Locks: Retallick, Whitelock, Pat T, Romano

Loose forwards: Kaino, Cane, Read, A Savea, Luatua, Dixon (Squire unlucky)

Scrumhalves: A. Smith, Perenara, TKB

Centre: Crotty, Fekitoa, Moala, Ngatai (Tamanivalu cover for Ngatai)

Question -- is 32 the squad limit (barring injuries) for entire comp? If so, because SBW is a shoe-in either CN or GM from above team would be casualties.

From the limited game time I've seen of them, Squire is more physical than Dixon as Kaino backup, but expect the finals may be key come decision time.

Ngatai will need to play some rugby soon before he is considered for AB selection. I'd say he will be aiming for the EOYT now after playing for Taranaki.

I push Ben Afeaki for AB honours and his career is over due to concussion. I fluff Ngatai like he's John Holmes and I'm trying to get into the porn business and he gets concussed! And I've been talking up Squire (despite the fact he plays for the Ta$man-ians) for a couple of years now and then he gets concussion. WTF! Why didn't I talk up Andy Ellis circa 2008/2009!

You'd have to think Moala's chances firmed again after Fekitoa's efforts this evening - of course Malakai gets another chance next week.

Agreed. And I think his outsides are suffering a bit from his lack of composure. The jitteriness tends to get amplified the further the ball goes.

I'm not sure if Moala is the answer but I guess I don't hate the idea of him and Crotty.

Next shoe to drop is Thorn. Then we can give up any pretense Cheika has any good ideas of his own.
