    @muddyriver yeah I think it was pretty clear last year this coaching team left alot to be desired, and this year has emphasised it, then there is the selection of players who have shown they are not up to this level over and over.

    I think there are big gaps in other areas of Northland development too, I've said before, if my son was in the position to choose, I'd be reluctantly guiding him to another province (probably Auckland or Canterbury) to further his career.

    Not perfect but all we ever want is performance with some heart and skill. Wins will come but so much better.

    Very good article written by Herchel Fruen a couple of years back..
    the amount of schoolboy talent that comes out of Northland and ends up in other provinces is staggering ...
    If they can find away to polish this talent , anything is possible .

    @taniwharugby we just want to see a sign that the team has a plan, executes and gets better. Bryce Woodward teams did that. We didn’t win competitions but they were teams that competed and at times played some wonderful rugby with the players they had. We need to get better and we have some exciting young talent so let’s make use of it.

    @Gunner saw Tyla Nathan-Wong last week standing outside the stadium, she is tiny!

    They have been good to watch too, play with a great spirit!

    @kev said in Norm Maxwell:

    Loved this article...

    I remember seeing Norm when I lived in Wellington - some place down town - and being really impressed. He seemed very modest and without the swagger of the successful sporting star he was. Great to see his story.

    Pretty cool stuff. Love the pic of him and JC in particular.

    @taniwharugby
    Popped along to watch to watch the world secondary schools sevens at Sacred Heart College yesterday,whilst Scott Gregory was'nt as prominent as he was last week for the Northland sevens,he showed on many occassions,he has great strength,and very good pace,that could see him end up as 2nd five or centre,has a powerful left foot punt,standing beside him,stands around 6 foot plus,i am picking hes around 95kgs,similar build to Anton Lienart Brown,agree with Kev regarding Gregory,will be a great aquistion for the Taniwha moving foward.
    Waisea Lawabuka should be available for the Nationals,has a shoulder injury at the minute,
    Brady Rush and Robert Rush are also available selection which is great news,also great to see Whiria Meltzer back in Cambridge Blue,however beacuse under the NZRFU rules,only 2 x loan players can be used,which is absoloute joke,Whria Meltzer being one,the other 2 being Noah Cooper and Adam Simpson who is very swift,both play their rugby in Otago,but are Northland Boys,they can only select

    All npc sides back then had very good teams, I mean the players involved in the 2nd div finals in the late 90s was outstanding.
