This game made to look bad by a poor tmo who seemed to be desperate to take centre stage. Fernandez and Dittus looked good for Chile but Samoa just too sharp.

Ah! I got the wrong end of the stick. I thought you were against it in principle but you just hate Squidge.

    As you were then. πŸ˜€

Eventually got through the replay. Had about 8 goes at it over the week.

Upshot is I'm not completely pissed off at Carley.

I do think his errors favoured Wales, but don't think it was Paddy O'Brien / Wayne Barnes level fuck ups.

But they were fuck ups, and influenced the result.

Still struggling with his cards or lack thereof, and Quick Draw McGraw on the Fiji one. If it was worth a tallow it was worth a PT.

Couldn't find @MiketheSnow's knock on in that scrum that was penalised.

Upshot is I think Fiji can feel aggrieved.

Perofeta is still a frustrating player to watch. He makes a break and then throws a terrible pass.

The revised supporter tactics devised by @Stockcar86 and myself were never put to the test such was the whirlwind start made by the Shield Snorters which saw us up by about thirty within fifteen or twenty minutes and the game was well and truly over by then. They were well thought out and would have worked a treat but as they say we kept out powder dry for later use. About twenty or thirty 'Poo supporters were made the error of taking up seats nearby but we were very magnanimous about things, even going so far as offering them our congratulations when they got off zero. We generally left them alone to suffer in their teams ineptness with no need for us to inflict further torment onto their team!
The visitors did offer a bit of resistance after the initial onslaught as witnessed by keeping the score to a mere fifty when @Donsteppa so wisely pointed out earlier that a century looked a real possibility. It might well have been but we lost track of the number of tries called back for disputed reasons. All in all it was a game that lacked something, the close exciting finishes we have come to expect at McLean Park this season but considering it was against the 'Poo we can live quite comfortably with that!

I decided to re-watch this game to have a closer look at the lineouts. As per previous comments about not using Vaa'i as a lineout target, he was used as a lifter with one of the locks to lift the other lock. Examples being the first lineout of the game, and the lineout after Mo'unga made the try-saving tackle on Penaud. That pod worked well because of the extra height of the lifters. What was of more concern was how little the ABs challenged the French lineout. On one of the few occasions we did, the French lost the ball.

Christie wasn't the only ginga who had a shocker. Newell made de Groot look co-ordinated trying to roll away from a tackle. Zero impact.

Beauden actually played well for 60 mins until he and Mo'unga thought that the best option when chasing the game was to kick the ball away.

In future with some experience it’s fair to say that Chile might be a bit hot to handle for some countries.

    Get out.

    Chile? Sweet as, bro.

    You can join him.

Another win for harbour - 3 on the trot after a pretty poor start to the season

But where was Shaun Stevenson? Rested, injured or potentially on standby for a trip to france?

They are some shower of whinge bags on the field. Detestable bunch.

Sexton is such a whiny fluffybunny

Seems to be a very Irish trait these days.

I blame BOD for starting it.

Oddly enough, it seems to have infected a lot of Fern fans too.
Whine here, whine there, bloody wine everywhere.

Seems to have started sometime around 2016, according to the historians...

    I blame Wayne Barnes

    Fair comment. πŸ˜‰

He has a younger brother Jayden just as big in the Canterbury u/19 squad this year.

The NZ version of the Skeltons. πŸ™‚

Anyway, that wasn't a bad performance in the heat. If you work ons maybe a couple of injury replacements for Fiji, who by the way still scare the shit out of me 😬

@Chris My comment was a bit of a pisstake, of course there are younger players there, Auckland have a few themselves like Heem, Royal etc. but it seems like Canterbury have a lot more older players than in previous years like Heinz, Crotty, Funnell, Moody, Romano mixed with guys like Lienert Brown, Drummond, Dunshea, Harmon, Prinsep and Jager either 30 or approaching 30. For an NPC side, it is fairly old.

I was so angry at the poor refereeing in this match. I suppose Josh Kaifa is invisible and allowed to enter rucks from anywhere. Despite all the hometown calls I was staggered the BOP reserve xv held out with 14 men.
