It's a bit like the Davey Dumb Dumb situation. They always probably knew he was a douche, but he was their douche!!
Yep.
Except a douche who tries to burn down the village is the issue - if DDD had come out and said 'yeah, the coach, the board and the selectors asked me to do it ... and I secretly recorded them asking' then you'd be talking similarities

Saying it twice doesn’t make it any less true, it just makes it more storied imho .
Discuss. -

It pains me to agree with you again. It's almost like we are smug pricks with a superiority complex.
As for that Horizon's council car - I have just worked out that my rates for this year paid for %0.57 of that - so a couple of days. I'm going to give him a call and arrange my use of it.
Yes @taniwharugby I mentioned rates, and I haven't even started drinking yet.

I don't follow NZ politics as well as I should - but what was this bloke's end game, assuming all went to plan?
He presents this evidence to the caucus and the rolls Bridges? Then what? This bloke forced us to oust our leader over a relatively minor campaign finance issue (that no one in the party room gives two shits about) and is sitting around recording decidedly off-the-record phone calls. What future does he have in the party? You can't rehabilitate from that point.
Leak the stuff by all means, and deny, deny, deny any allegations that you were the leaker. Sit on the back bench and very quickly time and turnover will give him another chance.
For a politics lifer he seems dumb as a doorpost.

The assumption that he had a plan might be an error there. I suspect he now thinks "that seemed like a good idea at the time". Then again, I am assuming that he can think.
Your last sentence probably explains it.
Minor grammatical point -"Politics lifer" and "dumb as a doorpost" is tautology, or to quote the Baron from above "people are stupid".
-
I suspect in his own mind everything Bridges did was 10x worse, and he thought he would be feted as a hero and a legend, not a slimy, stupid fuckwit who cheated on his wife and is now hated by pretty much everyone in his party. The by-election is going to be VERY interesting.

I imagine this isn’t all that far from the truth

Jami-Lee Ross has been admitted to a mental health facility. Hardly surprising given the way this has played out, probably finally dawned on him how screwed he is now.
-
@no-quarter Interesting to see that he did not have to spend months on the waiting list before being offered a position.

He might have been threatening to harm himself or others.
In other news National can kick him out using this

member becoming mentally disordered
(1)
Where a member of Parliament is, or is deemed to be, subject to a compulsory treatment order made under Part 2 of the Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act 1992, the court by which the order is made shall, as soon as may be, give a notice to the Speaker of the making of the order.
(2)
Where a member of Parliament is received or detained in a hospital in accordance with an inpatient order made under Part 2 of the Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act 1992, the person in charge of that hospital shall, as soon as may be, give notice to the Speaker of the reception or detention.
(3)
Where the Speaker receives a notice under subsection (1) or subsection (2), the Speaker shall forthwith transmit the notice to the Director-General of Health, who, together with some medical practitioner named by the Speaker, shall without delay visit and examine the member to whom the notice relates, and shall report to the Speaker whether the member is mentally disordered.
(4)
If the report is to the effect that the member is mentally disordered the Speaker shall, at the expiration of 6 months from the date of the report if Parliament is then in session, and, if not, then as soon as may be after the date of the commencement of the next ensuing session, require the said Director-General, together with the said medical practitioner or some other medical practitioner named by the Speaker, again to visit and examine the member; and, if they report that he or she is still mentally disordered, the Speaker shall forthwith lay both reports before the House of Representatives, and thereupon the seat of the member shall be vacant.
(5)
Every person having charge of any hospital in which any member of Parliament is so received or detained, who wilfully commits a breach of subsection (2) shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $2,000.Obviously I think the twat handled the whole thing pretty badly, apparently he just paid $2million for a house in Auckland and now he's fucked. If he had of gone to Bridges and told him he wanted to set up a poodle party like Act in Botany as a coalition partner he would have got all the party leaders perks and all the attention he could get so he'd be sitting pretty .
Now he's unemployable, his reputation is toast , his marriage must be on the rocks and he's in a mental hospital. Thats what you get for listening to Lusk and Slater, its time for the national party management to tell all their mps if they associate with these toxic arseclowns they'll be kicked out.
