Folau is full of bile and bitterness. His views are expressed with all the charm and eloquence of an irate stoat. Of course, he and his like are allowed to express their opinions in a free society, but there are many things more deserving of the media's attention.
Hopefully one day, Folau will reflect on the implications of his hate preaching for vulnerable young people (who contribute so much more to human progress than him), but I am not holding my breath. Until he has something worthwhile to say, he is best ignored.

I saw Folau was trending on twitter last night, and it was for another anti-gay rant at his church.
To be honest, I wish the media would stop giving this twat a platform and oxygenising his bullshit. His sermons don't need to be reported on.
I didn't know about it until you reported on it.

As is this thread. Good grief Izzy just fuck right off.

I disagree on the this thread being ignored.
Quite a few people earlier on were firmly of the opinion that Folau is being shafted properly by the ARU and should go after them. I'm sort of on the fence.
So the more I read about the sorts of things, but more I shift to thinking "fuck 'im"

He should talk to Brian Tamaki, he has recanted his statement that the gays caused earthquakes, maybe together they can, er, ride off into the sunset hating all us sinners, somewhere else...Auckland islands are good
Izzy and Brian can have a Biggest Religious Dickhead contest if he moves back to NZ with his missus.

@NTA I was more leaning toward Brian moving to the land that is girt by sea.
Yeah, nah. Nah. You keep him.

I actually had a listen to the sermon in context. Not as bad as some are making it out. They video all their sermons going back ages so it was in no way a case of Folau doubling down in another homophobic rant.
Sermon was on doing things to please god, not to please man. He's positioning himself as a bit of a martyr here, christians thrown to the lions sort of thing. Talks a bit about other parishes letting go of their principles. Says its the devils work this gender transitioning in kids and having government replacing parents, also says homosexual marriage is a sin. Also mentions a future where everyone is microchipped and you could be punished for having the wrong beliefs so its important to stand on principle now.
Anyway I have absolutely no idea why he could possibly have any of these thoughts.
...I don't share Folau's beliefs but I respect that he is standing on principle here even if it could cost him millions. People are rightfully afraid to speak out against these excesses and its children here who are really paying the price. I'm fortunate that I have conservative gay friends who speak out against this pride movement, many don't so they naturally see acceptance of these behaviour as being representative of all members of the LGBTQQIP2SAA+ community, they also see what happens to people who dare to criticise this orthodoxy. What Folau is alluding to is by no means baseless and this mob mentality to run him out of town will do nothing to quell homophobia.
Times have changed, maybe the 'oppressed minority' has too.

@Rembrandt transitioning children is one of the more disturbing things to come out of the radical left in recent times. That's going to backfire badly in 10 - 15 years time, with 100s (hopefully not 1000s) of kids lives ruined.

Yes, when you have the world's largest corporations trying to out-compete each other to show their solidarity with Pride, not to mention top politicians and countless other people with fame and influence, you have to wonder what the fight is actually for now. It isnt David vs Goliath anymore, more like Goliath looking round for people to beat up.

This whole let your kids decide what they are BS is just that. I don't disagree that there kids who are legitimately trans gender. But it is becoming a fashion thing amongst the nutty entertainment set and consequently flows down.

@Rembrandt And there he is, tattoo's and all, preaching living by the bible.
I wonder if anyone has asked him about that? People do pick and choose what elements of their faith are important and what is no longer important. Playing devils advocate I'd say the long term effects of getting tattoos or eating shellfish is not going to hurt society wheras encouraging the breakdown the family unit, cutting children's genitals off and promoting paedophilia could harm it greatly.

Yeah, and it's impossible to tell if a kid is actually transgender. Studies show that between 60% and 90% of all kids that experienced gender dysphoria as a child grew out of it. So to be transitioning young confused kids with life-changing treatment (not to mention f'ing them up mentally) is an extraordinarily bad idea.

Not-unreasonable commentary (“The smear campaign is ON”) from a Christian conspiracy theorist and Folau supporter, and worth a look.
He says Folau is condemning the government for taking away a parents’ rights over raising their child, and rightly points out that there are states in Australia where a minor (under the age of 18) cannot get a tattoo without parental consent.
The conspiracy theory he floats here is that the media reports from the weekend have more than a whiff of coordination between Rugby Australia and news media.

I'm not questioning what you've said, but that's a remarkably large range!
