Southee 7 overs no wickets and 5.42 economy.
Smith somewhat forgiven for going at 6.83 from 6 overs courtesy of 2 wickets.

But jeez thats some serious carnage from Pope and Brook

How has your team been going lately ?

Not losing at home to Poms ranked below us.

Is the alternative better? Not much.

Brook is some god damn player. With the way he plays the wheels have to fall off eventually, but it’s taking ages !!!!!!

Brook clearly liking the length. Even Bondy suggesting we should try more yorkers and change of pace, but nothing changed so far

Shouldn't have given him an open net practice at Hagley. The price of being a pathetic rabble doesn't just end if you do some extra catching practice coz youve been caught being naughty. They will be paying the Brook price for all 3 weeks.

Much better hundred by Brook, this one.

Played and missed a bit, but I don't think he's given a proper chance?

O'Rourke gets Pope, who flirted with hitting one straight up last over. This time it goes to hand and Rachin takes it after flirting with not.

    And now WOR gets Stokes.

221/6 and our noses are back in front.

Would be handy to get Brook now and have bowlers batting at both ends.

And a bit later - we do get Brook.

    Run out by Smith.

    259/7.

If we can bowl them out for 300 (or less) that will be a decent result.

Smith has been a really good addition to this test side. That run out was as cool, calm and collected as you can get.

Philips drops Woakes - but, Blundell redeems him next ball by catching Woakes and convincing Latham to review for a nick that no-one else heard - including me.

    All out for 280.

O'Rourke with a good catch in the outfield.

That's quite a middling score - which they would have taken at 43/4 but not at 217/4.

Or at least I wouldn't have but then would've.

Good to see a much better catching effort. Amazing the difference it can make

    Conway goes cheaply again.

Must be tempting even Gary Stead's patience. Though I guess he has 3 x50s in his last 10 test innings. But, he doesn't really look like getting a big score.
