I see the Wish version of Heat has a sequel……

    Looks shit.

I’ll probably still watch it though

I watched it today because I read this post (I was going to Conclave) and it was tosh, but mostly watchable tosh.

Bloody hell you live a life of leisure my friend 😉 I expect a full review by the end of the night !

"it was tosh, but mostly watchable tosh."
How much more of a review do you want? 😉

Oh sorry almost forgot, titwatch = 0. But I like the main actress in it - she's from the netflix popcorn show 'Who is Erin Carter'.

He had a scraggly beard for this one and refused to pronounce French words correctly. The Brando of our times.

Anyone watched Longlegs? After all the hype about it being brilliant....sat down and ditched it after about 40 minutes. Clunky and rather boring....does it get better after that?

I loved it from the get go

    Went in blind

Didn’t even know you know who was in it

I had remembered a bit of fanfare when it came out and Bonesetta had read it's the best horror in decades. Just had no tension at all, we're probably too dumb to understand it.

@Bones yeah not many horrors are much cop these days, too much sfx and less built tension...iirc Longlegs was just a bit slow all through, had potential.

I'm not a horror movie watcher so have no first hand opinions of this but I thought this was a good year for horrors? The movie podcasts I listen to raved about a bunch of them and my mates who enjoy horrors seemed to think it was a good year.

There were so many horrors out this year I'd often struggle to find something to watch at the cinema.

@Nepia throw me some names, I love me a good horror...although I think that genre has become much broader, I think Heretic was classed as a horror, but imo, not.

    Gettysburg

At over four hours, this should have stayed as a TV miniseries. As a movie it's punishment for history students. The amount of needless scenes feels like everyone involved tried desperately to do a defining moment in America's history justice and no one had the balls to do anything worthwhile in the edit.

Overly romanticised in its portrayal, performances contrast between wooden and overacting, and the dialogue is full of poetic monologues.

If you have to watch it you should start at 3:28 into the movie, when the battle actually begins. IMO all the build up is tedious and unless you're an American with a hard on for Civil War re-enactment give the whole thing a miss.

Sorry, I don't know the names (without re-listening to the podcasts) as I don't watch horrors. I think Smile 2 was one they mentioned.

Trap might be the closest I watched to a horror this year.

@antipodean The director is basically a Lost Cause promoter. Gods and Generals was even worse.

I gave it a go and shoulda known better. Sorry Mike. I’m with @Bones on this one. Utter shit and beyond stupid. The lead chick basically sleepwalked through every scene and was completely uninteresting ( or maybe just a shit actor )

So slow, so ponderous, so pointless and Nicholas Cage looking like Marilyn Manson and hamming it up was more than I could take….switched it off with about half an hour to go.

I actually preferred Gina Gershons ‘performance’ overall

@antipodean Same team that made The Beekeeper, and will probably hit the same basic action mark we all know and love.
