At what point does Mark Robinson's position become untenable?
How many things has he messed up since taking over for Tew?
How is Robinson responsible for INEOS not paying money? Genuine question, if you booted any CEO because a company they has agreement with didn't come up with coin, I imagine there wouldn't be many CEOs lasting long.
Ultimately it's on NZR/Robinson who they engage with as sponsors
Optically this is a terrible look.
I never said you would boot the CEO for this matter alone - if this was an isolated incident that would be one thing but Mark Robinson's track record is not great.
This is not on NZR. Its not on Robinson.
Everything that happens is not always their fault
I think you forgot this is a rugby forum Grubs, obviously if the market in Europe has gone tits up (basically like a lot of things over covid etc) NZR should of known about it and prevented it, I wouldn't be surprised to see Ben Ainslie sue NZR for not forseeing it happening, so he's lost his, and even the Ineos Grenadiers are looking for more sponsors. NZR have a lot to answer for here!!!

@Machpants not to mention he probably has some handy lawyers and deeper pockets than NZR, not that it would likely ever end up in court the way all that shit works.

Chasing the money suggests the settlement was not much. If it was a years worth it would have given them a chance to change without the drama.

The sponsorship has been reported as being NZ$8M a year, way less than the weekly player salary total at Man Utd. If Ratcliffe was only offering a fraction of that, legal action is the only option.

Hi guys, Mark Robinson here. I got 3Cs in Bursary, no worries though, I went to NZ's worst university, and due to a really shithouse canterbury coach I played for the All Blacks.
That got me a sports scholarship to Cambridge, and lucky for you, the captain of the team was a really nice guy who made all his money from private equity deals (he was some scum bag who was head of PE deals at some boutique London firm), and that meant that I got the best advice to sell NZ rugby!
Short story, but I'm a moron and the worst people in America fucked NZ rugby over! Great, we are $60M in the hole, but we are going to have such a good app! And Taika Watiti, the worst director going, we are going to give him $10M.

It's Sky UK. There's a reason its subscribership is declining and it loses money.
-
@Machpants me too, although im always interested how many people seem to prefer having a sponsor on jerseys
would be interesting if there is an uptick or downtick in sales, if up you wonder if it would ever be worth it for adidas to pay to not have a sponsor on the front

Confidential settlement reached.
-
The official press release is very brief:
New Zealand Rugby and INEOS can confirm that a settlement has been reached between the two parties. Whilst the details remain confidential, both organisations are satisfied with the outcome and acknowledge a desire to now move forward.

Good news, generally means a bit more cash
And we can move on
-
@Machpants obviously more cash than when they weren't paying...

Ineos wouldnt have paid the full amount of the remaining contract.
NZR would have got less but are free to engage with another sponsor
