We're not the only Australasian cricket team currently getting their ass handed to them overseas.
The Aussies are 0-4 down in their ODI series, and getting spanked in each game. And people aren't happy. Firstly their is a fair bit of negative opinion being spoken and written about them (especially gobby Warner and the deeply average Wade) continuing to mouth of and sledge incessantly despite the pounding they are taking. Seocndly the decision to rest both of their fit front line bowlers at the same time (this a month or so after deciding to send Smith home mid-series), leaving a deeply average attack in South Africa that is getting slapped all around the park.
On a separate, but related note, the inquest into the death of Phil Hughes is going on at the moment. A terrible tragedy we all agree, however some of the lines of questioning have left me a little uncomfortable. Players have been questioned over their alleged sledges (it has been alleged by Hughes' family that the bowlers threatened to "kill him"), and the tactics of bowling around the wicket, and short.
Both of these things are normal parts of cricket, why are they being questioned because of a freak occurrence?

Yeah cricket is in a weird place at the moment. I'd consider myself a big cricket fan, and there have been at least 10 matches this year where not only could I not tell you the result, but I didn't even know they were playing until after the match.
It's taken 'meaningless filler' to a whole new level. I couldn't really give two shits if we win or lose, either.
And the Hughes inquest is just harrowing. You feel for all involved, and I can't help thinking this was one that should have been conducted behind closed doors.

The World Cup brought the ODI back in to fashion. But it seems we are going back to the overkill of a few years back when people just lost interest.
It's pretty clear the ACB is using the last 2 ODI series to rest players, and build depth for the domestic summer. And that's fair enough i guess. Their priorities are different to us as cricket fans

It took Virgil 18 hours to get to it. Usually his "FUCKEN AUSSIES R SHUT, BRO!" senses have gone off well before then.
Like @barbarian I'm a cricket fan and remember, as a kid, hankering for the summer to come around. As someone who doesn't have Pay TV, you'd barely know we were playing except for the odd tweet coming through from people reporting overseas.

Even if Bollinger did say words to the effect of "I am going to kill you" he certainly did not mean it literally. The battle between bat and ball is as much a mental one as a physical one, and while these days we and others are leading the trend away from really bad sledging it has always been part of the game. Back before the bouncer rules it was not uncommon to get a whole over of them if you were on tour in the Windies, and guys like Ambrose were not smiling as they threw them down either

I don't have a clue what sledging has to do with this. A bouncer is a completely legitimate delivery. We have our own bouncer merchant in Wagner - if he hits someone on the head does it matter what he said before hand?
Really feel for all involved, trying to get closure on what was a tragic accident but having to re-live it all again.

On the Aussie cricket team, their recent results really reinforce how bloody difficult it is to win away from home. To the point that they are resting players to ensure they are fit for the summer as losing at home is not an option, whereas losing overseas during winter will mostly fly under the radar.

Another team struggling a bit overseas is England who are 1-1 with Bangladesh, with the series decider today. Bangles boys really ripping in as well, I'm sure Stokes will be particularly upset about the sledging. Might have to write another book after the series.

Haddin would be one of, if not my number one hatiest, sports stars but have to agree with what is said. I'm sure Virg didn't mean it like that but any chance to have a sporting dig takes a backseat when someone has lost their life.

0-5 whitewash confirmed. Bowlers took their usual tap, and their batsmen couldn't get it done despite Warner getting 173.
The bowling attack was substandard, and struggled, but that batting lineup was first choice, with Warner, Finch, Smith, Bailey and M Marsh all playing. Only one of those players goes home a success. Warner, as much as i hate that dopey, belligerent little dwarf, scored 386 runs @ 77, with a strike rate of 113. That's a great series.
M Marsh appears to be the latest in a long line of not really good enough all rounders who get constantly picked.

Bloody hell that's an insane innings. Finch with 19 from 40, what a fail. Just needed one other bloke to get a decent 50 and they're home, Warner will be spewing.

Warner was Ponting-esque in his innings. Clean striking and never looked rattled.
Smith and Finch the biggest failures of the series. Finch looks a little more rotund than previous.
