I do like quirky weirdos in music......not many fit the bill like Les Claypool. Also the way he combines vocals with some pretty fucken choice bass licks is pretty awe inspiring......
He thought he was too "weird" for Metallica.....they tactfully said he was "too good". Given they have Bass Monster Robert Trujillo in the ranks I think the former is true.
Fkn love primus. Was listening to this track the other day actually and reminded me off a parody we did in one of the bands I played in as a teenager. We called it John the Baptist about this religous kid at school (no idea if he was baptist)
My name is John, I'm from the Baptist Church
You'll find me in the holy waters...... -
Holy shit Iron Maiden are fucking great

Up the Irons!
I've seen them live 4 times including once at the legendary MSG in NYC.

@mariner4life That particular concert was a triple bill featuring 2 other bands who unfortunately no longer exist due to the deaths of their singers/leaders - Motorhead and Dio.

@Bovidae pretty sweet show. How was Dio live?
Live After Death is probably my favourite live album ever (scream for me Long Beach!) but i think Maiden are one of the few big acts I've wanted to see live that i never have.
While it's not my favourite IM album, I've been flogging Somewhere In Time all weekend. This is a fucking great song

@mariner4life RJD had one of the best voices in rock/metal. He sounded the same live as on the albums. I checked my ticket stub and I paid US$52.50 for that gig.
Nice choice for Wasted Years. That is in my top 3 Maiden songs with Hallowed Be Thy Name and Still Life.

Maiden are fucken good. Steve Harris is a bass favourite of mine but the rest of the band are exceptional too. I liked Paul D'ianno and think he did some great work but in a Chuck Mosely/Mike Patton like move they replaced someone good with someone even better. They would be fucken great to see live.

Dio was a talent. Up there with the best rock vocalists ever in my opinion.
Would be interesting to see a flowchart between Deep Purple/Black Sabbath/Rainbow and Whitesnake to see how much 'inbreeding' went on between those bands.
Hats off to Zep ( better than any of those mentioned overall ) once Bonzo died they called it a day and stayed the same from beginning to end.
