@mariner4life RJD had one of the best voices in rock/metal. He sounded the same live as on the albums. I checked my ticket stub and I paid US$52.50 for that gig.
Nice choice for Wasted Years. That is in my top 3 Maiden songs with Hallowed Be Thy Name and Still Life.

Maiden are fucken good. Steve Harris is a bass favourite of mine but the rest of the band are exceptional too. I liked Paul D'ianno and think he did some great work but in a Chuck Mosely/Mike Patton like move they replaced someone good with someone even better. They would be fucken great to see live.

Dio was a talent. Up there with the best rock vocalists ever in my opinion.
Would be interesting to see a flowchart between Deep Purple/Black Sabbath/Rainbow and Whitesnake to see how much 'inbreeding' went on between those bands.
Hats off to Zep ( better than any of those mentioned overall ) once Bonzo died they called it a day and stayed the same from beginning to end.

@MajorRage Agree. Very well structured tune, plenty of feels and a heap of punch.

I know that Grohl and co really divide opinion here, but this little ditty come up whilst I was out for a gentle jog the other day - fantastic tune.
One of their best for sure. I also quite dig 'New way home'

Have been hearing some really good things about this band Ghost for a while now. I put their most recent album on in the background while I was doing some tidying and by christ they are bloody catchy. Technically metal but more reminiscent of the old 70's/80's style old black sabbath, blue oyster cult, merciful fate so very easy listening compared to today's metal
They won a grammy for best metal performance last year ... oh and they also have a bit of a satanic cult schtik going on wearing demon masks/undead pope getup to hide their identities, it's almost a shame as I think that might put some folk off what is some very cool tunes..but then again its a hit with the younger generation
And doing some reading on these fellas, turns out Dave Grohl produced one of their EP's and has dressed up in their Ghoul outfits and played with them live

@Rembrandt I listened to some of the tracks from Meliora when it was first released as the band was hyped in a music forum I browse. As you say, very catchy tunes if you ignore the lyrics.
You definitely hear some early Sabbath influences.

Love this song ... old school ... in every single use of the word. May have posted it on this thread before, can't remember ..
Mate! They are reforming and opening for some band that is coming over here and but it escapes me the name of that band
