The new Foo Fighters album is pretty fucking cool. Its not their best work, but it doesn't have to be to be pretty awesome. While their last album was a lot mor emelodic in parts, and they explored that whole acoustic thing, this one is a lot more rocky. I have only been through it twice, but i like it. And as per normal, the first 30 seconds of the album kicks ass.
I'm pretty impressed with it. It's probably their second best album behind The Color and the Shape.

Awesome as Fuck from Green Day is pretty good, a decent selection of really old songs on it too (pre-Dookie)

Been many years since I've dipped into the Stones catalogue, but been playing lots from the Mick Taylor years the past couple weeks. Great stuff.

What I'm looking for, and what got me playing them, was a live version Bob Dylan did of "Brown Sugar" from his 2002 tour, and I can't find it anywhere, grrrr.
I've been listening to a lot of Drag City artists recently - Silver Jews, Bonnie Prince Billy and Bill Callahan

Not many vids around but here 's a fan made one for a Silver Jews song
Might as well throw in some kiwi stuff. I was listening to the Verlaines for the first time in ages yesterday.. they really should have even more recognition in NZ

Also been listening to a lot of Pavement/Stepehn Malkmus. I was lucky enough to see Pavement in 3 different cities this year :drinks:

Here's Malkmus covering a Verlaines song in NZ (does he really need to read the chorus??)
agreed duluth, underated band in NZ. a lot of really great songs. Saw pavement last year too, at brixton academy. they butchered 'Date with Ikea@ which was one of the songs i was hoping they would play. The SM cover is a bit lame and not a patch on the original

Was just sent a version from an unlabeled concert, and it sounds mighty fine. Pretty much a direct version of the original, with Bob mostly incomprehesible yet clearly changing the Jagger-Richards lyrics "just like a young girl should" and "just like a black girl should" to "just like I knew you would," which at first seemed politically correct, but on closer inspection might be Bob casting himself in the role as the slave owner rather than narrator.

Can are awesome. As is Hawkwind! Just watched the "Lemmy" documentary yesterday, and tho' I've known a lot about him for many years, was kinda surprised to learn he's from Wales. Really cool assortment of guests in the doc too, from Captain Sensible (Damned), Peter Hook (Joy Division, New Order, talks about how early N.O. was directly ripping-off Hawkwind), Metallica, and Ozzy ... who declares Lemmy as The Real King of Heavy Metal. Good stuff.

Yeah, they nailed that song - much better than the album cut. Drummer is a real machine.
Will have to check out the Lemmie doco!
