Some pretty interesting stuff but not the greatest episode overall.

Sam not listening to Gilly was frustrating! They put that scene in purely to annoy us..

Has anyone other than Dany been able to pat her Dragons? I thought something was "clicking" in her head when he did that, but then she dismounted and acted as if nothing happened...

Stoked that Gendry is back in business, and him taking those two guards out was one of the highlights of the episode for me.

Pretty awesome crew heading off north of the wall at the end, be interested to track their progress.

Aside from the red bearded fella ( can never remember his name ) they're a fucken grumpy, sullen bunch. The weather won't help their moods either.

@No-Quarter did Tyrion touch the dragon as well? Yeah you wondered if she was figuring it out, but no.

Game of Thrones, season 7, episode 5 review - Eastwatch: Bombshells, surprise reunions and sisterly strife

Game of Thrones, season 7, episode 5 review - Eastwatch: Bombshells, surprise reunions and sisterly strife

With Game of Thrones going full dragon apocalypse in episode four there was an obvious danger episode five would be a damp squib by comparison.

Bronn must be part Australian surf life guard and part fish - as I have no idea how he dragged Jamie down the river, in armour, with horse warriors all over the show. Big plot gap that Tyrion didn't wait to locate the body or try and save him. Bronn obviously got a message through for the secret meet but...

Jon and the Dragon was a huge reveal, as was Gilly mentioning the marriage details. I reckon Sam will click on that soon.

How the fuck does Littlefinger out-sneak Arya?? I know he's got years on her being a manipulative weasel, but I was expecting her to crack open the Sansa - Littefinger plot. Still time I guess!

And Jon went directly to the wall, do not stop to see your siblings!!? I know he's focused but that's a bit wobbly imo.

@JK said in GOT - there will be spoilers:

Cant beleive Sam didnt listen to his womans ramblings there re Rhaegar's marriage being annulled.

Does this mean than he then may have secretly married Lyanna Stark and therefore Jon is no bastard afterall and actually more entitled to the Targaryen thrown than Daenerys?

Seems the case. What an incredible coincidence that she was reading precisely that scroll. It wouldn't have been that old to require copying either. Ah well, if Jamie is aquaman then I guess this isn't too big a stretch.

One thing's for sure, if the army of the dead could move as fast as John then Westeros would have been fucked in episode 2.

    :::

I think the fact John is at the Wall confirms that he is sharing Stannis' arc in the books. I'm wondering if the North will be evacuated and they end up in the Vale where we will see the Sansa/LF intrigues.

If that episode was in an early series it would have taken up about 4-5 episodes.
Can't entirely blame the show runners though. They started at a pace they thought was about right for the complexity of the story then had to start dragging it out while waiting for that fat fuck to write more. Now they have painted themselves into a corner and need to wind things up at quite a rapid place after deciding they couldn't wait any longer.
That whole ep was simply re-positioning the characters more the next key happening. We are now moving from set piece to set piece with the occasional plot driver thrown in.
My pick is that we will get one more epic scene in this series and the 'Jon is the rightful heir' bombshell thrown in the mix right at the end. Also reckon Cersei will take a back seat for the rest of this series and return next year with a mercenary army

I wouldn't be surprised if all except Jon Snow died. I think Gendry is toast... tie up that storyline quickly. Do the wildings have another known character left except Tormund to rep them? That might save him, otherwise any potential storyline them featuring them become more awkward? That said, hasn't been an issue for the Dothraki.

I reckon the Hound will survive and face off against his brother next season.

Can't help but feel Jorahs time is up, poor bugger, not even a farewell blowie from Daenarys...

I think Gendry will become Lord of Storms End. Would be a bit harsh to keep him alive all this time to then just kill him off at the wall.

I respectfully couldn't disagree more. I reckon he's cannon fodder.

Why would they make him cannon fodder? Poor bastard (literally a bastard he he) has evaded death the entire series and now they'll kill him off while on a quest to capture evidence? Actually they did the same thing to the Blackfish so who knows.

He'll probably hook up with Arya at the end.

This show used to have a reputation for unhappy endings and misdirects. It's gotten awfully safe lately. He's a chance to prove they can still be brutal. If he dies it will remind me of the last series of LOST where they just tried to tie things up loose ends that used to be important but they didn't get around to.

@Milk if anyone deserves to die and has somehow managed to avoid it despite being a sneaky cnut, it's Little Finger!

Surely he is the next big name to die, although knowing Martin, he'll probably end up on the Iron Throne!

Yes, when it still had the books to work with!

Ultimately Gendry is a combination of 2 book characters. One or both of these 2 will likely be alive at the end. That's why I'd be very surprised if they killed him in the series.
