@bones must have been watching different game!! Haha just watched replay, he made one big handling error in first half and that was it. Two/three turnovers where cleaners ineffective which happened a lot today. Reckon he was almost best on park 😊

This game will be remembered for the TMO decision and red card. It went on for extra 10 mins in one half. Bok fans said if we win by 1 point it is a win. If we lose by 1 point it is a still a fucking loss. What a turnaround from their worst loss in history. Overall I am proud enough to say a great passionate game of rugby. Boks could have won if they had started with some other 1st choice players.
Card schmard.
Yellow or red at that time makes no difference.
Surely the Saffa ire , or anyone's, should be that De Allende turned a missed droppie into a penalty in front of the posts. 8 point lead with 3 mins to go in a match they lost by 1!
I repeat card schmard, what a dumb play!
Personally I think it was yellow, for what it's worth, as I think he collected shoulder rather than neck/chin. But he took 2 steps after landing from his attempted charge down to line that up (with a leading elbow), what an idiot.

2/3rds through the game with nz having 2 tries and Saffa 1 - it occurred to me that NZs 2 tries were very old school. Both scrappy opportunities from opposition mistakes. While the Saffa try was very, very modern. Plonking it down it front of the metre wide goal pads (dumbest law in rugby, imagine a RWC final getting decided that way one day, will be humiliating for the sport)
-
After nz went 8 up with 2 mins to go my attention drifted and I started looking at my phone, then I look up and we have a defensive lineout metres from our line. So I rewind to see who gave away the penalty for us to be there, phantom penalty. No idea what it was for or who gave it away. I saw nothing and Garces didn't signal advantage?
-
Judging by the lack of reaction on here, I take it most (nz fans) didnt have an issue with the Crotty try?
I didn't.
For me that just an example of TMOs and super, super slow-mo cameras making the game a bit harder than it needs to be.
But after that my heart skipped a beat for both Ioane & DMac's tries with the way they grounded it. Someone take them aside and discuss proper grounding techniques please.

Agreeing fully here.
Crotty's was worth a look. But imo he got downward pressure from his forearm. IIRC "control" isn't necessary when forcing a loose ball.

And further @Rapido those placings for the 2nd & 3rd introduced an unnecessary element of risk. (If you wanted to you might find a wee bobble in Ioane's ... )
-
Bok lineout pretty much immaculate today. Apart from one Pat T steal at the front. Well done Marx and the whole unit on improvement from Albany.
But, PSDT - the extra height. Got burned out wide on the DMac try. To be fair he's a big guy late into a 90 minute match.

Yeah - Crotty's, I put the "how would I feel if the opposition was given that try" test to it. And I ended up thinking - 50/50.
-
seen plenty of those given (and not) he had contact (control...?) with the ball and remained in contact the whole time, thats the key bit, as he didnt knock it on.

I thought the ref team explained the reasoning very clearly. It was 50/50 on the grounding by hand but because he knocked it back he was still able to ground it with the body.

Yay finally a test match worth viewing again
Well done Boks for that defensive effort and a typical home town prformance we haven't seen too much of lately
Good win for Read and co. Dead rubber, some injury forced selections and a fair bit of travelling, oh and 10 mins overtime
We had a plan in the first half to stay awau from the breakdown? I guess so
Bok defence made us search and search for a hole which is credit to them
SBW good at tackling (when he's mad at being responsible for turnovers...) - he's straightening the attck quite well but not playing great at all
Squire keeps on going and is the steel in the trio - good boy
Todd shored up rucks and things when he got on - good player and a better fit in the big games than Savea
All subs were good actually - Tunga great around the park, Havilli is on the magic dust in his into career already, Tuipolutu, best appearance for years, TKB calm, Lima distributing well, Taylor always good.
Hey NZRU, wanna save 150k a year? Sack the lineout coach and simply throw every lineout to number 1 - straight at his chest and about a metre and a half in front of 5 yards - works every fucking time!
Nobody in the reffing world has a problem with holding the legs of opposition standing behind a ruck huh?
Can we make tactics where the entire team rolls and crawls along the ground when tackled? There's easy metres to be gained there. the no call on SBW who got up in a tackle and tried again was the worst non decision of a night of spazzing along the turf
I suppose no ruck reffing equals a brutal free for all of a game...
My old rugby eyes see no try to Crotty and no red for the SA centre, but modern rugby tells me that De Allende is far more dangerous than 120kg flying missiles over a ruck....?
Overall a good game to be part of (we're all stakehoders ) and a hark back to the brutality
happy for a win and happy that the Boks and supporters hopefully can see their mojo again

Nice to see that Garces has learnt the offside law about playing a ball from a knock on by your own player.
Remarkably similar to last time but he didn't "make a deal" and cost us a match and series. Obviously has his betting account being watched now.
And yet the Etzebeth playing at the ball was actuall far more accidental than that fat fucker catching the bloody thing!
Is that "irony" or just plain "fuck-nuckleness"
