After VVs complete fucking wreck of True Detective I don't think I can watch him in anything
I thought Vaughan was really good in True Detective, as he played against type. You wouldn't catch me watching any of his comedies though.

Brawl on Cell Block 99
Starts a bit on the slow side, but once it gets going is brutal AF.
Was odd seeing Vince Vaughan in this type of role but thought he did it well.
3.5 caved in skulls out of 5 broken bones
Loved it.

@bovidae Swingers is fucking great
Got a new TV for the new house, got it on the wall, and so thought i would watch something big and epic on it. And what was on Foxtel? Troy.
Holy shit that's a beautiful movie. Beautiful people. Beautiful sets. Beautiful weather. Big, wide , sweeping beautiful shots. It even sounds pretty cool.
Such a pity the script is appallingly bad. Like, painfully bad. Cringe-inducing bad. "Immortality! Take it! It's Yours!" fucking seriously? A classic story, it should be almost impossible to fuck up, and yet, look what they did. Jesus.
I still think the Hector v Achilles duel is the best i have seen in a movie though, it's so very stylish. Upon this watching i realised Hector lost because of inferior fitness. Conditioning coach needs replacing.

Orlando Bloom gives new meaning to the word pussy in that flick as I recall.

That guy from Dawson's creek. Fo real

Dunkirk - wasn't what I expected, not as brutal as some of the recent war movies.
Interesting way of telling the story with the misaligned timeline from a few different perspectives
3.5 dogfights out of 5 pleasurecraft

@taniwharugby only 3.5? I liked it a lot more than that, thought it was brilliantly done.
Can we have a rant about the cinema industry? Went to Star Wars on saturday arvo. We paid $19.50 a seat for v-max 3D (and i think those were cheap tickets through Telstra). Despite this astronomical price, i then had to sit there for 33 minutes of ads. 33 fucking minutes. For our 11.30 screening, the movie started at 12.03. And there were 3, fucking 3 trailers. So what's that, basically 30 minutes of ads? I was fuming. Someone along the chain is making an absolute fortune.

@mariner4life I'm reading a lot of stories about the demands Disney are putting on cinemas... guaranteed number of showings for x amount of weeks, increased revenue per ticket, no cancellations, no comps, etc etc. This might be a reflection of the cinemas trying to make their money back?
Agreed though, that's crazy that it started half an hour later.

@mariner4life I did really like it, probably 3.5 is a bit low, guess it's one of those ones where I went in with sky high expectations and didn't quite match them.
It did deviate from the norm of brutal violence and 2.5 hours long as most films these days, so was a refreshing change there.

That $19.50 you paid is cheaper than the usual 2D non-Vmax price. I am a cinebuzz member and you get points for every movie attendance (generally, every 6 movies you get a free one) - so I usually go to the Movie of the Week at $10 to build up my points and then use my points to see VMax movies. But, then I probably go to the cinema more than most on here - at least once a week. Also, they often have Cinebuzz deals where you can get $10 tickets for a month, or you can buy 2 months worth at $9 or $10. I don't thin I've paid full price in at least two and half years. The best thing about multiplexes is that you can pay for MotW and then go see something decent at the same time.
I never go until 25 minutes after the start time - I leave it late so I don't get spoiled in the idiotic previews they do these days.
