No doubt Hearns and Higgins are working together on this , Hearns is encouraging him to make some headlines , any pre fight banter is just theatre , you could see a few smirks at each other in the presser, and you can see they are working together in this interview, Hearns actually wants him to amp it up

Remember when Shane Cameron's manager decided it would be a good idea to use his key ring torch, to cringe worthy effect, in the presser before Cameron was basically ruined by Tua? "See that little light? Well its going to be [turns light off] lights out for David Tua..."

Higgins is like that every time he opens his mouth. Its like someone's westie uncle has stumbled drunkenly into a press conference and they're actually letting him speak. There's so much corny ass machismo going on. Higgins is the personification of a bright yellow trans am at at traffic light with a bright red outline eagle on the bonnet, hard out revving its engine at teenagers while blasting "eye of the tiger". Out of date.

I remember Cameron tried the old 'O for awesome' stuff to try and wind up Tua. Fair to say it didn't work.

Fair to say it did work, but not to Cameron's advantage...

Smacked him over in round 2 and went to BK afterwards. Legend.

Just went and re watched on youtube. Man, Tua destroyed him.

Fark yeah. Cameron was lucky (or actually unlucky in reality) for the fight to get out of the first round. That barrage at the start of the 2nd round was BRUTAL

I actually predicted a second round KO on the fern back in 09. I'm extremely proud I got it right.

Lewis is one of the greatest heavyweights of all time, no shame in Tua losing to him.

As for this fight coming up it'll be compelling. I'm sure any number of bandwagoners will get behind Parker as is the kiwi way.

@crucial Tua was very stupid IMO. He went looking for the KO when he could have gone to the body. He could have at least tried to get under the jab and use his lack of height to his advantage. He showed a lack of ring knowledge. Yes Lewis had a great plan to avoid the KO by using his jab. But Tua showed he was nothing more than a KO artist with no plan B.

Wasn't it subsequently revealed that Tua had some kind of injury that he fought with and they kept secret in the leadup?

Tua would have thrived in many other eras where really tall guys were rare. Imagine a slugfest between him and Rocky Marciano.

    Was likely Suzy's fault.

Genuine question - is Parker a better chance of winning vs Joshua than Tua was vs Lewis?

Hard to answer , both are underdogs , the thing with AJ , we still don’t really know how good he is , the next 12 months will probably answer all that

For those in the know... how do these guys stack up in terms of fighting style? Anything that might give one or the other an advantage in terms of how they operate in the ring? So far I've seen comments about Joe having faster hands, but AP being a heavier hitter, then the stuff about AP's chin...

I am really hoping we see that hand speed coming back for Joe - there have been flashes of it in his last few fights, but he's also looked a bit short of condition when going deeper into the fight. I'd love to think they've been foxing a bit to entice AP into the fight... but that might be giving Barry and co a bit too much credit though? surely it's a risk to hold anything back in the heavyweight division with the sort of stopping power the big boppers have?

To be honest I think AJ has the advantage in most areas , size , reach , power .
While fans make a case for joes speed and power , if the only fights you had seen of his were the last 3 , you would probably question if we are talking about the same fighter .
But anything can happen on the night . Some say ajs style will suit joe , I guess we are about to find out .
I’ve got AJ winnng , probably tko , with joe putting up a brave performance, but wearing too many heavy shots .

And I must emphasis, that’s not what I want to happen , I will be supporting joe all the way , no one will be happier than me if he wins .

Agree mate. Hope we are wrong but see it panning out this way. We havent seen Joes power for a while now. Hope it returns but hard to gain both speed and power at same time. Usually have to sacrifice one for the other

Parker has quite a short reach compared to Joshua.

Have to admit, I just thought he was average and others were above average, but I looked up a few others and yes JP does seem like a kangaroo.

Broken or cracked ribs partway through the fight, not sure about beforehand, although it's entirely possible that he had a rib injury and Lewis caught him there and broke them properly.

I remember watching live, and Tua was in it till that happened about round 5, because he suddenly stopped trying to get inside for some reason.

Which is why he does that thing where he lunges forward ( almost jumps ) to throw a combo , it’s been a bit easily read in his last few fights , Joshua is pretty good at slipping punches and countering , I have fears of AJ setting him up here .

I remember thinking when JP fought Fury , if Hughie's head had been 5 inches further back off his shoulders Parker would have knocked him out. His lunging gave him too much reach in that fight.
