Jamie Heaslip has announced his retirement from the game. Great player for Leinster, Lions and Ireland with a good few medals and cups to go with it.

    3 Six Nations
    1 Grand Slam
    3 European Cups
    3 league titles
    1 Challenge Cup
    2 Lions Tours
    1 Try of Year.

Not a bad haul. All the best to him.

Couldn't shake off the back injury. Shame for such a great career to end like that. I've heard stuff on social media that the back injury was a legacy from Pascal Pape - is that so?

Loved him in the red shirt for the Lions and feared him in either the green or blue.

Yes - that rumour or supposition has been around a few fora. Clearly it did him damage at the time, and he had to have a small op but nonetheless he returned to playing not long after. He has been scrupulously quiet on his medical history and has said publicly a number of times over the last year that his health is a private matter. So I don't think he's going to say anything about it unless he's asked to co-write an autobiography or something.

One of those players who was too easily dismissed as not one of the greats, yet his consistency in playing and remaining injury-free along with the respect he had from all of his team-mates in the role he played has a lot of value. One of those guys who didn't get all consumed by the game, and found it easy to switch off and do other things - particularly pursue future business ventures. I met him a few times in the course of work and found him very easy-going, smart and approachable.

Hope he continues to enjoy life.

Heaslip was a great player. Sad he's battled with injury for so long. Good luck to him

    @billy-tell Beautifully judged and executed.

Sexton threw a pearler against Wales under advantage for their first try.

Yep. Absolute bullet across the defensive line.

That's one of the best tries I've seen. The pass reminded me of playing a video game where you just throw a Hail Mary and it (unrealistically) goes to hand. Absolute thing of beauty.

It's pretty standard play for a Scottish backline these days.

Wayne Barnes would've called it back for a forward pass. Even after viewing the replay.

Look at these fucking muppets. That's so not on.

    Article below:

The Scottish Rugby Union has apologised after footage emerged of fans abusing England coach Eddie Jones as he travelled to Manchester following the Calcutta Cup. Jones revealed on Wednesday that his train journey from Edinburgh to Manchester -- which he made alone in standard class -- was marred by physical and verbal abuse from fans.

Drunk fan has out of line behaviour .... gets filmed.

Social media picks it up ... goes viral.

Every man and his dog offers his opinion on it. Equally split amongst into 3 types ...

    1. This doesn't happen in our game, disgraceful, not what rugby represents, not part of our values
    2. As a (Scotland in this case, but insert country here), I'd like to say this isn't representative of the vast majority of us, please accept our apologies
    3. Fuck him he deserved it, look at what he says/writes has to expect retribution etc ...

And then of course fans of soccer (in this country anyway) look at it and have a good old giggle, as the haughty taughty rugby fans have long looked down on football behaviour with contempt.

All countries can say what they want, they all have their fair share of dickhead fans, and despite what many will tell you, it's not usually a tiny minority. Fans are passionate, they make mistakes and go overboard. All countries, all places. I've been spat on in Australia, sneered at in Twickenham, punched by a bok in London, verbally abused in Wales, and treated with utter contempt in Scotland. I've also witnessed plenty of AB fans being dickheads too.

The SRU shouldn't apologise, not their doing. Apart from winning of course, but who the hell should apologise for that?

    Wales XV
L Williams, North, Watkin, Parkes, S Evans; Anscombe, G Davies
Smith, Dee, Francis, Hill, B Davies, Tipuric, J Davies, Faletau (capt)

    Replacements:
Owens, R Evans, Lee, S Davies, Jenkins
    A Davies, Patchell, Halfpenny

Wales team nnamed for Italy match in Cardiff this coming Sunday

    Lots of changes.

Although Halfpenny has been great we now need to score tries
North on borrowed time. Shit against Italy and then Halfpenny / Williams on the wing for France match
Good to see Watkin in there. Owen Williams must be thinking wtf after a great Autumn
Parkes earns his place, so too Evans and Davies
Anscombe last chance saloon. Great to see Patchell on the bench not Biggar

Needed to test our reserve front row. No harder test than the Eyeties. Hopefully number one ball from our own scrum
Interesting backrow. Run them off the park

    Great bench.

All to play for. High tempo, high scores.

    I'm happy

Hahahaha, alternatively he's the AB fan being a dickhead he's referring to so has deserved all of that.
