Movie review thread...

watched "Seven Psycopaths" last night, and found it brilliantly entertaining. Sam Rockwell is fucking funny, Christopher Walken plays Christopher Walken (and is therefore also funny), and even Colin Farrell is likable.

Saw Filth at the weekend. Adapted from Irvine Welsh's novel about a degenerate Scottish detective on the edge of a sex, booze, and drug-addled breakdown.

I was curious to see how they were going to film one of the book's particular plot lines but was pretty disappointed about how they handled it. It's also verrrry Scottish, along the same lines as Trainspotting in language terms. Sometimes you just don't have a clue what's being said. But, James McAvoy is pretty decent as the cop veering between the evil bullying of his colleagues and friends one minute and plumbing the depths of despair the next.

Very funny in places, but a bit too much of a knockabout.
-

Red 2 - decent action film with a few laughs, with the likes of Mirren, Willis and Malkovich just having a bit of fun!

Saw the Hunger games sequel as it was a family night at the movies. I enjoyed it though as a reviewer pointed out in places its a much longer movie that they obviously trimmed down for the theatre release, the last book is being made in two parts.

Jennifer Lawrence is hot as I explained to mrs Jegga in a "gettable " way, when she asked what I meant I explained that if you told the right lies and and your mates werent around to ruin it for you you might have a shot with her. She replied "told . the. right. lies." and the trip home was very quiet afterwards, no idea why.
-

Lawrence is a funny one. i don't reckon she looks all that hot in her movies, but you see her flashed up for a premier or something, with her tits all hanging out the front of her dress, and she looks fantastic.
-

I find her face to be chubby, it probably isn't but looks like it on the screen.
-

Thats kind of my point, seems pretty normal in interviews too.

She didn't look chubby in her dancing gear in the Silver linings playbook to be fair.
-

Definitely not. She's not one of my favourites, but she looked good in that dancing gear.
-

Golan and Globus are The Shit. Shaking hands with Her Majesty QEII, fucksakes! I well remember about a year after that doc was made driving with some friends in the Catskills in New York and the car broke down. We had to get the thing towed, and hitched a ride to a KOA camp to pitch a tent and stay the night. It was nothing like any campground I'd ever seen in NZ. When it went dark they dropped a sheet and screened a video of Invasion A. About 300 campers showed up to watch (!!!) completely absorbed, some drinking beer and getting Ronald Reagan jingo war fever. My buddies were hippies, they were freaked-out and wanted to escape, but we couldn't, so we smoked some weed in the bushes, stayed at the back watching the movie and laughed our asses off.

The scene with Aaron Spelling is funny. The guy's a billionaire eating off a paper plate with plastic flatware. That knife looks like it's not even making a dent in his lasagna.
-

Watched Prisoners (Terence Howard, Jake Gyllenhall and Hugh Jackman)

Pretty decent watch (too long though) if not a little predictable - Jackman and HOward daughters are abducted, and the main suspect is set free, but Jackman isnt willing to let it go as it appears the cops arent doing enough.
-
Man of Steel - never been a superman fan, but enjoyed this one (except it was far too long) pretty impressive cast if not long cameos in parts, assume this is likely to be the start of a series of them?

R.I.P Paul Walker..

Paul Walker, best known for his role in the The Fast and the Furious movies, has died in a car crash. He was 40.

A publicist for the actor, Ame Van Iden, said he died Saturday afternoon (local time).

A statement on the actor's Facebook page said he was a passenger in a friend's car, and that Walker was in the area to attend a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide.

"We ... are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news," the statement said.

Thats really sad, most of his movies were pretty cheesy but a lot of fun. He was in Shark men on the National geographic channel too, he had an interest in marine biology .
-

Yep, sequel is confirmed and they are well down the track with development. Rumours about Wonder Woman turning up too, which makes sense as those three are featured in some of the best stories in the comics.

They also want to follow the Marvel lead and get a Justice League movie happening. Can't see them being as successful as all the Marvel movies though, the consistency between Ironman, Captain America, Thor and the The Avengers movies is pretty unique. I'd expect the DC equivalent to follow the mess of the Hulk movies.
