It was a massive, massive blunder not picking Akira Ioane this year. When Graham Henry likens a player to Jonah Lomu, I take notice. If used effectively, he could have an enormous impact at the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
Fifita looks pretty similar to Jonah here too and it's fair to say Argentina are a bit more of a Rugby power than Chile are....

Hemopo at 6 sits fine with me, until you remember he's 3rd in line at the Highlanders, and therefore will get zero time there.

Arguably at the start of this year Frizell was 3rd in line behind Squire and Dixon. Actually, isn't Dixon back? So that would make Hemopo 4th in line?

While Mauger has already poured cold water on the idea of Hemopo moving to six, I think it would have our best players on the paddock and Luke Whitelock off it. I think that would be best for NZ rugby and best for the Highlanders, but it won't happen.

They have been quite shit to be fair. The Scots fan in me is pleased by the thought of that this Sundee.

The problem is he doesn't smash and bash blokes, he scrags them down. I don't think he has put in one dominant tackle in the test matches he has played so far.

I dont think its a necessity for a 6 to smash blokes, obviously your pack should be making effective tackles when possible as a core role. as long as he has can nail what is required and make big plays to shift momentum in whatever manner. Peter O mahony had huge work rate and made some great steals at crucial times.
i dont think a bench loosie is much different, bring energy and preferably one of dominant Tackles or carries.

Couple of interesting bits from the Short Ball podcast today:
Apparently, after losing about 50 kg, Karl Tu'inukuafe hasn't adjusted fully to his new body, and often moves like he's still carrying the weight. IIRC, this is expected to improve.
Mils was "pretty shocked" that Ioane missed selection, thought he grew during the NPC, and was pretty huge. Work-ons are further development of the physical side of his game, especially on defence - continuing with tackles, rather than trying to get over the ball.
