    2018 World Rugby Awards

    • Men's Player of the Year: Johnny Sexton.

Deserved and to be expected, although I'd have gone for Faf de Klerk.

    .

his diving is a thing of beauty, and deserves reward...

That was a joke, well deserved for a good year on top of a great career. Hell of a player.

yep well done to the Oirish especially since this award would have already been decided before the All Black match I think

@stargazer How the hell is South Africa a nominee for this award. This is a team who lost half the games played during the period. How were they better than Wales. I mean South Africa's record in 2018 is worse that 2017. What's the criteria here a win against the All Blacks

    • Try of the Year: Brodie Retallick

    .

Fuck, I love watching that fluffybunny scoring tries. Huge Jaws-grin as he lumbers in.
Every time I feel down, I try to find his 2015 QF try to pick me up. Now, I've got this beauty, much more accessible.

    Yeah. Love his tries.
Double whammy for BBBR on this one. That was a great tackle/steal to start the movement. Also love the way he is calling for the ball out wide like a winger. I'll show you guys how to do this.

Just watched that video of BBBRs try again but watching the Convicts.
Fuck. No wonder they had such a shit year! That was awful, awful defending. The effort and alignment was appalling.

Watch that and tell me again that Pocockwomble is world class. He runs around like a headless chook. Does some ruck inspecting (while the ball is out) then, instead of pushing straight out on Goodhue, turns and lets him get speed up.

Look at how many yellow jerseys are within touching distance of that ruck after BBs run with zero chance of doing anything.

    Italy did better at times.

In a moment of weakness yesterday, I caught myself checking what odds the Boks were to win next year's RWC.

    That is amazingly crap journalism.

Instead, there was no awkwardness after the dessert plates were cleared away at what appeared to be a typically glittering World Rugby extravaganza in Monte Carlo, with Sexton chosen ahead of his fellow No 10s Farrell and Beauden Barrett, halfback Faf de Klerk, hooker Malcolm Marx, and wing Rieko Ioane.

Farrell was not nominated for WR Player of the Year.

    Get your facts straight Patrick...

That really is a tawdry piece of writing. To run such a shitty headline under a player who has nothing to do with the action complained about and implicate him in some way is just shit.

They've now amended it to read:
*"Stand up Johnny Sexton, World Rugby's player of the year, a victory not only for himself and Ireland but also World Rugby who might have breathed a sigh of relief that Owen Farrell, who has escaped sanction for two recent acts of foul play, hadn't won a nomination.

Instead, there was no awkwardness after the dessert plates were cleared away at what appeared to be a typically glittering World Rugby extravaganza in Monte Carlo, with Sexton chosen ahead of his fellow No 10 Beauden Barrett, halfback Faf de Klerk, hooker Malcolm Marx, and wing Rieko Ioane."*

He makes a central mistake in the hook for the story and is now trying to continue with it based on it would have been embarrassing if Farrell had been nominated.
