EXCLUSIVE: McMahon signs with Sunwolves, World Cup hopes fade

The chances of Sean McMahon playing at next year's World Cup continue to fade with confirmation the star backrower has signed a deal to play for the Japanese Sunwolves in Super Rugby.

@Stargazer That sucks for the Sunwolves. Be interesting to see where McMahon is playing next year.

    Hmmmm -
South Africa‘s Super Rugby teams will be wearing their new jerseys inspired by Marvel’s Spider-Man, Thor, Black Panther and Captain America at Cape Town Stadium on #SuperHeroSunday (February 3) at the first public appearance of the Marvel makeover.

The Super Rugby double-header will be the first time that the four local franchises will wear their new Marvel-inspired jerseys. The jersey designs have each been meticulously crafted to reflect the superheroes the South African teams will represent while also staying true to each team’s already iconic colour identity.

@Daffy-Jaffy is this for the season or just for one round?

@Hooroo "The jerseys will be exclusively worn in most South African derbies. The teams will wear in their usual jerseys for matches against international opposition."

Not sure whether it has been posted before, but Beaudein Waaka has been training with the Melbourne Rebels since the beginning of preseason. I haven't seen any news of him signing with them. He was one of the few stand-outs for Taranaki in 2018, and I'd rather see him at a NZ franchise, but since nobody signed him, good luck to him.

@Duluth NZ Rugby would be mad to pass up that level of experience.

The TAB has already posted match odds for the opening round.

Those odds on the Tahds look a bit long to me. I'm not convinced that the Canes are that much stronger in the forwards.

'Upset' tip is Rebel over Brumbies IMO

@Machpants Yeah, it's great! Gives them enough time to prep the next generation to take over in 2022 (Aumua and Kereru-Symes at this stage, IMO).

@Stargazer Riccitelli may look elsewhere because of this. I think Coles and Aumua will be 1/2 and with Keruru Symes/Thompson coming through, he might go somewhere with less competition - backup to C Taylor at the Crusaders or first choice at the Blues.

@Canes4life Makalio and Funell are both better than Riccitelli.
